Not sure why you are being so melodramatic, as you had competent strikers last season. Maybe if your manager's tactics were not based on 'sit back, give it to Hazard and if that fails try and nick one from a set piece', then maybe the strikers would have had a better opportunity to perform.
No, we didn't. We had a passed it Eto'o, Torres speaks for himself and Ba. We haven't had a reliable striker since Drogba left. We easily had the worst strike force in the top 6.

I believe you are confusing 'currently world class' with 'competent'. Drogba was far more than 'competent'.
I wasn't including him in that though, since he left. In his final season he only really played big CL and cup games. Torres has been our main man for a good 3 seasons and he's gone from bad to worse, save for a few memorable moments, and Ba as backup has always been inadequate. In 2011-12 Drogba had 35 aps total with 13 goals (mostly CL and FA cup), compared to Torres' 49 with 11. Since he left Torres has had the spot pretty much to himself and it's been a disaster.

Eto'o wasn't bad and tried his best, but at his age he was not able to come close to providing the firepower our rivals had up front. I think it's safe to say that we've been in dire need of a striker for at least three seasons, and now we've finally addressed it. Ideally we would get rid of Torres and get better backup, but I can't see that happening until his contract expires.

Castiel , I like you posting on BM and appreciate the Chelsea angle but formidable is too strong a word.

Do not make the mistake of listening to the various media outlets assuming we have bought fuck all because we have gone under the radar this summer.

We knew where we needed to strengthen and when Mangala signs we are complete.
Without the ball you were the best team in the country last season (as always with JM) and when we saw Matic in February we could all see your power. We have Fernando this season and coupled with Fernandhino and Yaya I would not swap. Fernando is top notch as you will see.

Our spine is so strong although there is a only a midges between our squads either way.

However , our goal scoring is much better than yours and I expect this to continue.

Head to head you got lucky last year at your place and you were fortunate to play us at the right time at the Etihad.

I like Chelsea and if we cannot win it , I hope you do but we will take some shifting fella.
I wouldn't say formidable is too strong a word. Invincible would be! I'd say City is formidable too, but City has been formidable for a few seasons now while we've been coping with some glaring weaknesses. We've addressed all of our problem areas in this window, and we've made the most improvements so far. You didn't have many glaring weaknesses with personnel, except perhaps your central defence. I'm not sure about that though because you play a very aggressive system, you had the best defence in the league under Mancini with practically the same players.

Google definition refers to "fear" pal and we do not fear anyone !!

Again , central defence has been an issue for several years now when Kompany is injured . Mangala is raw but we have Dimichelis who showed the world what a good player he is (Alan Hanson is a clueless ****) and Nastasic so our 3 support players together with one of the top 3 central defenders on the planet make our defence solid. Also , Sagna is an excellent signing and will give Zabaletta a well earned break .
If , and it is an big if , we can get 30 + games out of Aguero this campaign then we are the team to beat IMHO. No big changes , plenty of silverware and a second season under the calming influence of "This Charming Man" will make us too strong I believe......

But I could be wrong of course
Come on you Blues

Why do Chelsea fans feel the need to come out with, "I won't hate Frank, even though he's joined City"?

I would have thought, considering what Lampard contributed to the Stamford Bridge cause in his time there, that was a given.

Franny Lee is still my all-time favourite player, but when he left for Derby, it never entered my head to think, 'I won't hate him'.

Seems very wierd.

So much for the return of the prodigal son.

Pretty dejected performance, they looked strangely tired, but two penalties makes it look worse than it was - though they were much better. Courtois made an unbelievable save as an upside and almost stopped the one penalty he had to deal with. I think he'll be our first choice pretty soon, he's incredibly good. Sadly Torres is still playing, now on the wing. He managed to miss from a few yards out and send a second open shot at goal into the stands.

I'm not really bothered by it but most are annoyed he's joining a title rival. I've not heard anyone mention hate though. It's a glorified training arrangement which fulfils your HG needs.

I think Chelsea's squad depth is over-rated.

They have a few good back-up players (Ivanovic, Ramirez, Schurrle) but I think there's more average players in that squad. The likes of Mikel, Salah, Drogba and Torres are all pretty average in comparison to Fernando, Navas, Jovetic and Dzeko.

Our starting elevens are pretty equal, but I would say our SQUAD is a lot stronger personally.
