Even with Loveable Josie in charge?

You mean the Jose who lied to us and convinced large swathes of the fanbase he was 'one of us', only to join United and then spend 2 years taking continuous potshots at Conte and Chelsea? Yeah, evidently, I still really love that man.

Ah, you know of him then.

Ah, you know of him then.

Unfortunately, too well. I consider pre-2013 Jose and post-2013 Jose as two completely different people, so it has been easy for me to compartmentalise him and totally kiss the ground the first guy walks on and feel pretty ambivalent towards the bitter old grey haired bloke who returned to the league.

Without coming across as celebrating someone's injury, since you wished us to be cursed yesterday, Son has broken his arm and joined Kane in the treatment room for the rest of the season. I've never known karma to work so quickly :)

Ah yes but it makes no difference.

You see "we are the luckiest side in the league", "Spurs are part of a FA conspiracy" (to what end I don't know), "Spurs are the media and referee darlings", so we would win the league, the Champions League, and the World Cup even if we had JimB and Crouchinho playing up front.

So I am looking forward to a famous victory this weekend helped by some biased VAR decisions, FA interference, the referee to send off 5 of your players for having an ugly wife, and the media scoring from 30 yards.

You, of course, can look forward to your curse continuing...

I take it this is part of some running feud you've got going with people on this forum?

Otherwise, you've completely lost me :)

Looking like they are going to bring some good players in the summer but you would presume that spuds will as well, arsenal will get better and the rags will spend more so Frank needs to hit the ground running next year, his 'reputation' and melt down around him is probably keeping him in the job at the minute.

Onana, Sancho Telles, a CB and a striker would be just lovely - their fees could be partially offset by selling Alonso, Emerson, Kepa, Pedro and possibly even Jorginho.

That on top of Ziyech will be near £250m. I'm not sure what kind of return you'd get for the players you mention possibly leaving but do you think Chelsea are prepared to spend that much?

If we can recoup approx £100m by selling those players, I think so, yes. We spent £235m in 2018 (lessened by £140m in sales) and we spent £190m in 2019 (lessened by about £60m in sales), so the club definitely isn't scared to spend - we have just not spent that money wisely, mostly on the wrong players.

On top of that we only spent £40m last summer during the ban, turning Kovacic's loan into a permanent move (we recieved about £130m in sales in that window).

Ziyech's £36m transfer is already helped by Morata's pending £50m move being made permanent this summer after the loan spell.

So looking at those numbers, we have about £100m surplus from sales last summer, plus whatever the budget would have been during the ban - plus whatever the budget was going to be this summer. I will freely admit that it's a bit of optimistic accounting on my part, and we probably won't spend £250m and we probably won't be able to flog all those players for great fees, but I was just theorising a best case scenario anyway.
