Chelsea thread 2020/21

Thought it was too soon when he was appointed but who chose the players they have bought as they look to be building a potentially very good side. I understand it a little bit if Abramovic wanted to buy experience and have more chance of 'instant success' but if he backed Frank then surely give him a bit more time with a young side? I know it's easy to say, we probably wouldn't accept it now at City but I just don't quite understand it

I don't think Abramovich rues any day mate, ruthless businessman
That is true. But him undoing all the good work of Lampard and his backroom team will probably bite Abramovich on the arse, talk about short sighted. It will most likely cause short term instability and there's no guarantee another manager will come in and turn things round. I feel a bit sorry for Lampard but he'll bounce back.

Crazy really, wasn’t helped with Werner and Havertz not hitting the ground running, but was always gonna be a gamble expecting them to be bang at it instantly. Hopefully gets another crack at it.

What's the point in hiring a relative novice (and a club legend at that) to then not have the bollocks to see it through? Ridiculous appointment given the circumstances. Difficult for Lampard to turn it down, of course, but that job would always have been open to him 5-10 years down the line.

Romans pattern for sacking was never going to change really. Tuchel will come in and also be sacked before his stint is complete. The cycle of Chelsea continues. Still managed to win a boat load of trophies despite constant managerial change I guess.
They haven’t won as much in the last few years, they don’t spend as big anymore either.

Called it with Tuchel last week. Pretty underwhelming really if I was a Chelsea fan.
For whatever reason, Lampard can't get that rather expensive set of players to do anything. They don't look like they want to either.

Classy to the last, Chelsea swing the axe yet again. What's the point of giving a young manager that size of budget to bring in several young players and not give him time to mould a team. Feel for Lampard. He deserves better. If certain players like Kovacic have been going above his head to the hierarchy then they are the wrong kind of players and Chelsea will go on failing. I said it then and I will say it now - Frank should have stayed at Derby got his experience, achieved something like promotion, then think about a bigger job.
