I do love a Bratwurst and a pint of German lager - visit every year at least once for these - normally before one of City’s home matches.
Edited for accuracyJust walked through Piccadilly gardens / market st.
The spice sheds and hoardes of scruffs makes it look more like a concentration camp than a festive wonderland.
I hate the city centre so much. I live a far more rural life than I did a few years ago.
London has loads. Southbank (which is actually quite nice), Leicester Square, Hyde Park etc etc. You need to get out more or meet non mancs. They bring in a load of tourists into Manchester which is good for the economy. I'm sure they employ a good few locals as well which helps people out.
They look really festive and have become a centre-piece for the city centre at Christmas and I'm sure there's millions of photos beaming the centre of town around the world which will also boost it's image and encourage people to visit.
Yes, the food, drinks etc are expensive but the good news is that you don't have to go. You can choose not to go, go once or go every week - the choice is yours!
They aren't my cup of tea, I feel I've done them enough over the years, but they are a HUGE draw for people. I never hear about people going to the Liverpool Christmas Markets, Leeds Christmas Markets, Newcastle Christmas Markets, Birmingham Christmas Markets, London Christmas Markets etc!
Plus the Birmingham one is much better than Manchester in my opinion. Although I wouldn't rush back to either of them!London has loads. Southbank (which is actually quite nice), Leicester Square, Hyde Park etc etc. You need to get out more or meet non mancs.
Busy time of year for the bluemoon miseries, they have to jump from Halloween, to Bonfire to Christmas within a week or so.Admire their work ethic
Birmingham Christmas markets started on Nov. 2nd. Not as spread out as Manchester, though a lot of similar stalls/goods on offer.Plus the Birmingham one is much better than Manchester in my opinion. Although I wouldn't rush back to either of them!
