2 reasons;

1. Because if they kept to the same design sales would plummet as whats the point in buying a new one if its similar to every other ‘kept simple’ kit.
2. Vast majority of kits are bought by kids and they think plain kits are boring. They want the flashy kits.
Remember the dick vein kit? Vilified by us FOCS, but a huge seller to the u18 market , who are the primary buyers.

I am sure I read that tequila sunrise kit we had a few years ago was one of the best selling shirts City have ever had.

Like you say, kits are designed for the kids.

Yeah I remember that obscure claim, worded to make it aound successful. The quickest selling 4th kit sold on the first tuesday of the month between the hours of 2 and 4 while it was raining in kefalonia. Or something like that.

Like you say, kits are designed for the kids.

I forget the stats so dont quote me but i think, in order, the biggest selling demographic was:
1 under 14s
2 14-18
3 over 18

Literally had the conversation with the guy i know who works at city/puma that if it was down to adults, we’d have the same kit every single season
