LolHaha...I'm anything but Middle Class... Love a greasy english brekky/pies and all the rest of the shit but I would rather not eat it...
Same at the footy... I'd rather be served a fresh salad, a cheap bottle of water and or some green tea but due to my social conditioning I end up getting a foot long frankfurter, 4 pints of piss-fosters and my license taken off me for drink & driving :/
Plus the heart condition.
Lol
You're social conditioning!
Same happened to me mate, I used to be a tee totaller until I got in with the wrong crowd at a European away game. Now they force me to meet them before the game for drinks in some low down hostelry and then I feel the need to carry on at the game.
PS, that chippy I went into in Hyde, and the pub in Wigan were not my idea, I was forced.

Out-sourcing is the curse of consumers, we pay far more for a far worse service. I fully expected the Etihad to be the standard by which all stadiums are judged, regarding the overall fan experience, not an unreasonable expectation given the stated aims of ADUG, and how they wish to be perceived. Our experience at Chelsea game: arrived at Citysquare gagging for a pint. queue to Bar was simply enormous - the Bar enclosue looked really full so they seemed to be letting people in as others were leaving. Gave that a skip. Into stadium for pint. Fairly small queue and lots of staff manning beer pumps/tills but seemed like they had only just been introduced to each other. Another poster mentioned lack of training and there certainly seemed to be problems. Because of this is took a good 15 minutes to get a couple of pints/pie. Pint v cold but flat. Pie - steak v good. Pie cheese and onion - one of the most revolting things I have seen. Post game - got a pint fairly easily at City square but again, the enclosure very packed. All in all not a great experience but game made up for that!
It could be so different if the catering was run professionaly with trained staff, good supervisiion and leadership, better queue management, more automation and very tight quality monitoring by City. I am assuming that the catering is outsourced but as with any outsource it needs managing closely with penalties applied for any drop in pre agreed quality standards. Bit more space in City square for those wanting a pint would also help.
It's very much this, the people behind the bar couldn't organise the proverbial...It could be so different if the catering was run professionaly with trained staff, good supervisiion and leadership, better queue management, more automation and very tight quality monitoring by City. I've given up having a drink at half time, the only way you can do it is if you miss the last five minutes of the game.
City Square was rammed for the Chelsea game and I wasn't going to wait until they let someone out so that I could then wait again to get a pint.
Clearly it's become popular and now needs to be doubled in size, why not having drinking at the two cafés as well, or open up another bar like the one to the left of the stage?
Due to their inadequacies in providing refreshments in a timely matter the five of us will remain in town until it's time to get a taxi to the game and go straight to my seat. I wonder how much revenue they are missing out on from us alone?
We stay in a pub near the station for the same reason, decent cheaper beer in a glass and sat down! In fact it's less in a taxi for us than getting the tram up!^
We tend to do the same. We'll drink in The Bulls Head until it becomes clear we need to get in a taxi. Good beer served in a glass and rammed full of Blues. No contest.
It will be due to licensing but they could always apply for another.I agree about the size, but then again why is it segregated anyway (may be a licensing requirement? ) it was far to small fro the amount of people who want to get in, there were even interlopers in Mod corner!
