City agree fee for Jack Rodwell

12 million (if that's right) for a young, homegrown player who can cover most of central midfield and defence seems like a pretty good deal to me. Definitely worth giving him a chance, Mancini himself said he sees him as a future England regular.
nooo 12 million is alot of money. Thats what Arsenal signed for cazorla. They signed 10 million for France top scorer and international striker and 11 million for Podolski who has 100 caps for Germany.

12 million is alot of money, not a small fee gambling on a kid. This thread and the Sinclair thread has shown me how some people in here has lost touch with reality when they feel 8 & 12 million are fees you gamble on youngsters. For 12 million I want a player who I know can contribute to the first team and seriously challenge for a place straight away, not a youngster with potential

a lot of you guys are ungrateful saying he is shit etc we are buying him i hope to god he proves the haters wrong like clichy did
So do I, I think he's got real potential fitness-permitting, I just hope we haven't put a massive bid in because, as pointed out, they'd have rather sold Rodwell for £10m than Fellaini or Baines for circa £22m and £15m respectively imo.

The guy in my office has been going to Everton home and away for 20 years and I respect his opinion and he's moaned how crap he is for over a year now
More than mancinis?

The interview he just said felt like he didn't want him anywhere near the club

Bullshit! It was clear he was happy with him signing!

Everton fans are hardly up in arms about this:

A great signing, what did the next Baresi cost last season????

A lot more than we have signed Rodwell for, well worth bringing him into the squad we have. lots of potential and versatile.
Our average English youngster cost less than the rags average English youngster. Get in!

He's never made our midfield look silly and if that's your only point of reference you are in for a shock. He's not good enough to be a squad player. It wasn't just last year he poor. he's never had a run of good form. He came into the Everton team at a young age and therefore everything he did half decent was hyped, but he's never shown any top class ability. FFS he couldn't even get into Englands rubbish U21 side last summer. The previous tournament he came int with all the hype and failed to impress. He'll never make it at City and it's due to a lack of talent. It's got nothing to with his young age or injuries, he's just not talented enough to make it at the highest level. He's not good enough for Everton.

Words fail me really. The lad has the talent FFS, this post really is amazing. i know its not de rossi, or cavani, but fuck sake mate wake up a bit. this isn't championship manager! there are other players out there that fit the bill, that won't cost £50m. He will fit in fine, give your head a wobble. very surprised at your attitude, if you are a blue! and i suspect your not

If you think he's a real talent then you are blind to what talent is. Be honest you haven't seen much of him have you?

This thread seems to be a mix of people who have hardly seen Rodwell trying to be optimistic and calling those who aren't rags and those who have seen him are just stunned that this is happening.

Let's be clear here. This isn't an over reaction. Rodwell isn't good enough. It just makes no sense at all. I simply can't get my head around this.

If mancini wants him. thats it end of debate. he's coming so back him. he's a good technical player, anyone that has ever seen him play can see that. he can play in midfield and CB, which is what bobby wants.

Stunned that this is happening? jesus christ, this has to be a wind up

Aresnal also spent £15 million on a 16 year old Walcott who didnt play for seasons and £8 million for oxlaide chamberlain who was used sparringly and a lot more than they proberly wanted to

Wow Brian Marwood 1 Mancini -190

Well Mancini has just been interviewed and is very happy about his signing.

Dont piss on his fire he is frantically buying players for £100 million on Football Manager
If he was buying overrated players on football manager Rodwell would be top of the list

you are f*****g deluded if you think that every signing til The End of the World would be 30m one.

Yep..you might as well bang hour head against the wall with some fans because some fans think we should be spending 30m and forget our main squad is busting at the seams with top players who are hard to be replaced
