I don't think we've ever been good at throw ins.
We always end up throwing the ball back to them.
We always end up throwing the ball back to them.
Of course. We are so close to perfecting that offside trap though. It's only taken 28 months.Defending. Obvious, innit?
Does my head in. We tried an in swinging corner v Swansea when Navas took it and guess what? Bony scored.why are so crap at them?, persist with out swinging corners all the time, try something different, in swinging, short corner, under the bar on the keeper, anything, just try something different because our current format ain't working, another 13 today gone to waste
I think this is the frustration for the fans. We need to work on this sort of attention to detail, be it variety from corners or set pieces. Sometimes I have watched other teams and you can see that the team has worked on unusual corners or set pieces. Even if they don't always come off, it shows that the team has been thinking about, and working on, taking advantage of these critical moments in a game.need to mix it up, in swingers, out swingers, drive them in low and hard like a shot. Melbourne city scored a great set move 2 weeks ago, pass into front post where the player layed it off to a player just inside the box who passed it to back post for a tap in. anything just get it past their front player would be a start.
Exactly this. It's as if we're totally devoid of ideas.I think this is the frustration for the fans. We need to work on this sort of attention to detail, be it variety from corners or set pieces. Even with the set pieces, we know that either Kolarov or Yaya is going to try and bend the ball over the wall. I don't understand why Pellers doesn't try something different. I recall, for example, a set piece from either last season or the season before, when we had a free kick outside the box and Demichelis peeled off the back and raced to the far side of the box. The ball was floated to him unmarked, he nodded the ball back into the box and we scored.
It's up to Pellegrini to work on these things in training. Corners, set pieces, and even throw ins often lead to critical moments in a games. We need to be a lot smarter and pay far more attention to opportunities like this (something I am sure Pep will remedy).
