City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

All this talk about empty seats is infuriating.

How many years was our Club mismanaged which allowed the other lot down the road to have season after season of success and build up a fan base that was gathered from all over the country and even further afield.

If they had been run like MCFC they would be in the same position as us or probably even worse off.

It will take us a good number of years of being properly run before we can even get anywhere near their following, and it is also not being helped by the various media outlets who continue to favour them over us.

The leaving early is a completely different issue and as I have stated before the infrastructure around the stadium does not lend itself to easy access and egress, also the public transport network is shocking. Metrolink especially do not attempt to alter their timetables to fit in with match days, though I did think that at the Burnley match there was some signs of improvement I shall be keeping an eye on them.

I know of of one particular mum who was surprised to find out on Saturday morning that she was able to take her seven-year-old daughter to her first City game.

Not as surprised as I was when she told me her family had paid £70 for the two tickets. Disgraceful.

Re non-attendees against Burnley, it was also the first weekend of the half-term holidays, so plenty people are away.

I dont recognise the points your are making there.

Maybe you're getting following/attendance mixed up?

IMO though those 30000+ fans we had during the years of being "mismanaged" have been priced out of the game by the current owners running it "properly". We need those fans back. What we get now are more like cinema goers.

As for leaving early. No excuse bottom line, we all got our cross to bear, and so do other fans of other clubs that have more vocal support.

Excuses excuses dont fix things

Odd that, usually round 115 is packed and two to a seat, lots of space round us Vs burnley. Perhaps they got p****d off with the noise and wondered off somewhere else !

Obviously I know the part of 115 that you're referring to and it was odd that there so many empties there on Saturday but I didn't think the rest of the block or ground was that bad at all. In fact, I was surprised how full the much-maligned family stand looked.

I think it's worth noting that with regards to our block - and probably some others - an empty seat doesn't always mean the fan hasn't turned up, as some people move to other areas to stand with their mates. Us two should know this more than anyone, given that we both relocated our season tickets at the start of last season to the front of 115 so we could take advantage of the cheaper ST prices on the front 3 rows, yet neither of us has ever been in our own seats since we relocated! In fact, when watching a replay of our goals on Sunday, on one of them my empty seat at the front of the stand was there for every single armchair Rag bastard to see, and no doubt gleefully encircle with a great big fuck off red marker pen!

From my seat in the CB Upper Tier I can tell you that the family stand usually has the most non-attendees. Kids season tickets are cheap and regularly they don't get brought. I've also noticed there are several blocks of 50 or so seats which are often taken by coach trips but sometimes aren't. It was noticeably fuller than normal on Saturday and so was the rest of the stadium. Every stadium in England has non-attendees. I suggest it's become a bigger problem at City now that we are winning things and getting to finals. You have to have a season ticket to have a sniff of a Wembley ticket or an away ticket, and you aren't going to get into the biggest home games either. So people are buying season tickets out of necessity even if they can't make a number of matches. My best mate next to me probably doesn't make half the games.

Just watched the footage of City v utd nov 1972 in the 'Rodney Marsh under Pep' thread and its noticeable ,that with 5 mins to go,there is a steady procession of fans heading for the exit in Platt Lane..as they watch Marsh and Buzzer make Buchan and charlton look silly at the corner flag..This is a derby match remember.
Made me think back to days on the Kippax, there were always fans leaving early to beat the traffic in the 80s /early 90s...no one moaned then, loads did it...
It wasnt anywhere near as noticeable on a terrace, but of course in an all seater stadium the issue is more pronounced
Maybe...just maybe..we (and other clubs) have always had hundreds of fans leaving early, there just wasnt the visible empty seats for folk to comment on.

Its always happened but nothing like as bad as it is now .Remember Arsenal putting 4 past us in the first half at Maine Road vast majority stayed till the end .Nowadays it like a fire drill and with 15 min to go the exodus starts .The players and Pep must be well pissed of .fancy scoring a goal in the last couple of minutes and the ground is half empty .I just don't get it but if people want to pay £50 plus for a game and go before the final whistle who are we to complain

Was at that game
We clapped on Viera and Petit as subs.
Most of the fans at that game don't even attend the Etihad. The club has changed and so has the match going fans.

Loads of empties in the South Stand too DD, but they probably aren't noticeable because everyone is standing up. For the Fulham game (3pm on a Saturday), a whopping 22 of the 60 seats on my row, plus the row in front and the row behind, were empty (Block 117). Bizarrely against Brighton, a similar sized club to Fulham, it was virtually full
