- There's Only One City
I get the impression that a lot of people who go aren't that into football. I vividly recall one match when I was sat in the Colin Bell Stand surrounded by people discussing their clients. It was more like a work strategy meeting than a football match.
When I go, I only leave my seat to have a piss, nothing else. I love watching football, especially at the high level City now plays. It's fucking fascinating, and the skills of some of the players are unbelievable. I don't give a shit about the so-called prematch experience, the music, the 'beer' or even the food. I certainly don't want to sit there in a three-piece suit to have a knife and fork. I stay to the end, except if it's a night match with extra time, and I leave early on those occasions because it's a fucking nightmare getting home.
But you know what, those who are just there for the 'occasion' or because it's fashionable, or because they've got free tickets from the firm and there's only shit on TV - well, their seats are paid for too, and in many cases they are putting a lot more £s into City than I am. And the bosses at City would sooner have one guy in the Tunnel Club than 20 like me.
I think we just have to accept the world has changed. The old, working-class, enjoy the football and a good swear times are over and are not coming back at PL level.
