City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

Many fans have caring responsibilities, kids, older relatives, sick partners, and it increases as life goes on until you are fucked yourself.

If you want to go to the majority of the games you have to be more efficient with time. Clapping players off, when 5 subs have already milked it, and the game was won 30 mins ago, won't be a priority for most. A lot of people have things to do which need doing.
Why go to the game then ? If your life is that busy watch it on TV...

If i get home 45 minutes later than I would if I left early, I don't care. I want to see a game of football from start to finish. For night games I walk to Piccadilly and get the 10.36 train. I am home by 11pm
For 3pm games I walk and get the tram back in Piccadilly gardens.
For other kick-off times I do the same.
I have not taken a car to Ethiad for 15 years.
I probably have left early but that would have been for a reason not just because I am impatient and don't like traffic or queueing for a tram.

Sounds like you live conveniently for public transport.

By contrast for the Newcastle game I just got lucky and managed to catch a bus with only a 30 second wait and got home by 11:45. If I'd missed that bus I would have had a 45min wait for the LAST bus on the service and got home at 00:30. That's to just the other side of Radcliffe, nowhere miles away.

They are obviously the people I mean have something to leave for.

I know people who leave early and they don’t leave early for any reason other than because they usually leave early and probably do so because that’s what their Dad’s did going back to whichever grand/great-grandparents used to leave Hyde Road early for no reason.

I might start leaving early ostentatiously in a high viz jacket with "I LEAVE WHEN I WANT" in strobe lighting just to piss the tutters off ;O

Reminding me that I need to fix brakes on bike. Always stay to the end, then freewheel past you all. It's quite a downhill into town

Home to NR Kellogg's 45 mins - Inc 10 mins getting out of stand and getting my biggles helmet on.

For a normal home game I am away from home 6 hours. I leave 3 hours before kick-off and back in just over an hour after the game finishes.

Some people just don’t like crowds.

I know one old guy who gets to every home game about two hours early when it’s nice and quiet and leaves round about the hour mark. Has done for every game for the whole time I’ve known him, which is about 10 or 15 years.

Maybe he’s not a real fan but I highly doubt he gives a shit what anybody else thinks of him.

He pays his money and he does his thing. The thing which suits him not anybody else.
