City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

I watched Liverpool game on telly in Turkey i reckon there was at least 2-3 thousand empty seats. The way to fill them is to flog the tickets cheaper to the working class fans from Manchester not price them out then flog the tickets to someone who will spend a fortune in the souviner shop

I can tell you that there was definitely not 2-3 thousand empty seats. It's literally impossible to tell that over the course of a game on TV because you're not going to get a full image of the stadium during the course of play.

The way to fill them is also off point because the game sold out.

Any empty seats were the results of season ticket holders not coming, or complimentary seats not being taken up.

Here's also the confirmation of the sell out.

"Thanks to your fantastic support this game is now sold out, which means City Ticket Exchange is the only way supporters without a Seasoncard can secure their seat for this Premier League clash between two North West rivals."

We had bought tickets for a gig in Otley starting at 8:00 back in November. Then the bastards moved the kick off to Sunday at 4:30.

For the first time ever I did leave the match around three to four minutes early (watching it on my iPad) and was on the East bound Metrolink platform by around 6:30 just as the final whistle went. We got a tram within three minutes and arrived at Ashton Moss park and ride by 6:50. We got away quickly and were on the Motorway within five minutes. We arrived in Otley and parked the car at 8:05 and were at the venue by 8:10 in time for the end of the first number.

Those who moan about Metrolink ought to try getting around other Cities in the UK. In Edinburgh we have one line that goes from the Airport to the North side of the City Centre. I use Metrolink to get to and from every home match and wish we had something like it in Edinburgh.

I live about 4 miles from Otley. I followed my usual routine of moving to the back of the stand on 90mins and watched added time from there, moving to the back of a block nearer the exit when there was a break in play. Back home for 7.50 which is about the norm. But it is highly dependennt on leaving sharpish the minute the final whistle goes and a bit of a sprint to Joe Mercer Way to get ahead of the masses. Otherwise add 30 mins. None of this staying to clap off the players.

Dead right there weren't thousands of empty seats.
x% don't go because they're working.
x% don't go because they or someone else is ill.
x% don't go because they're on holiday.
x% don't go because they rely on someone to take them who fall into one of the three above.
x% don't go because they have exams coming up and need to prioritise.
x% don't go because it's now the 21st century and not everyone lives within ten miles of the ground any more, and the game dates are juggled around move often than they should be and travelling costs become prohibitive.

This all adds up and it happens at every club who have a broad fan base like ours.

Now that's settled, any news on the North Stand. C'mon City, build it and they will come.

Not 'till we sort out the trams and best way home, apparently.
I can sort it out.
Pedestrian bridge on Joe Mercer Way to allow cars to exit car parks unhindered.
Pedestrian bridge at end of JMW to Briscoe Lane.
Shuttle buses from ground to Gateway and Queens Road Met stations to allow alternative routes avoiding city centre.

We will have to disagree mate .it looked embarising on telly .family stand was worse but all over the ground there loads and loads of empty seats .why so many season ticket holders dont bother to turn up is beyond me

Will definitely have to.

I'm at the front of level 3 overlooking the whole stadium for 90 mins.

Only time there was loads of empties was 10-15 mins into the game while the queues went down.

Don, Can you define working class? Surely ticket prices aren't a class driven thing? Surely the class system died in the 70's?

I mean people from Manchester who havent got 2 bob to rub together we all no loads of mates &family who have stopped going because of the ticket price .these fans are being replaced with people who come just for a day out and are not interested in supporting or cheering for City .we are going the same way as the rags .while some season tickets prices are very cheap the same cant be said for individual match day tickets so it hardly suprising game after game there are loads of empty seats and the atmosphere is crap
