He'll be on in a minute when he clocks this, extolling it's virtues...:)

They still make good bog read material though. It was the handy size and it became eco friendly when you realised that after reading certain articles you could also recycle it!

More pure genius from it's 'forward thinking' editor.

I've got a horrible feeling my Mam's thrown all mine away you know. I hope not, got an overwhelming urge to read through them all again. Gonna nip round tomorrow.

Aaaaaah, simpler times.

I've got some old ones in the loft too.

I forgot about This Charming Fan. One of the first, wasn't it?
Your memory will be better than mine Dave !

The charming fan

THANKS TO ..my mums photocopying machine, shaz smith, sharon.

BOLLOCKS TO...the poll tax, M.E.N, everyone in the K stand, west mids police.

INSIPRATION FROM...guy fawkes, marc bolan, D.T. BOB DYLAN, tony benn, sinead o connor, john Lydon, the smiths, Arthur scargill and all the other left wing lunatics.

Views expressed in thi fanzine are those of the contributors, and will no doubt be different to KNOWALL Baileys views, which he will no doubt spend pages and pages in his rag going on about it !!

I made the mistake of buying this once from Piccadilly Records in the days when it was still in Piccadilly. I hopped on the legend (101) and had read it before we'd even got to Harp Lager!

Why anyone who was barely semi-literate would want to advertise the fact to the world by publishing anything at all was always a source of wonder, but as its editor struggled to spell his own name correctly, it's hardly surprising that he couldn't spell mine either!

Ah, nice to see you've buried the hatchet over the old fanzine wars!

;-)

On the couple of occasions I have spoken to Dave Wallace over the years while buying his fanzine, I found him to be a miserable, stuck-up arsehole whose attitude seemed to be 'you are too young to have a valid opinion, give me your money and fuck off'.
Not the best customer relations skills. Or were all you fanzine editors like that? (:-o)
There used to be a more general fanzine called Oh Rodney Rodney or something similar, short lived but pretty good. Not as painfully earnest and right-on as WSC. Anyone ever read it?

I think all fanzine editors must have been like that.

They were only ever it in for the money in my opinion.

Arf!

A one off 'Superzine' involving all ex fanzine editors and as many of the old regular contributors as possible?

"City 'til I Cry Into my Electric Blue Chips and Gravy With Bert Trauttman's Helmet On"?

Alright, the title might need some work but what about it?

'The Fanzine Sheikh Up' with the sub heading 'Too Many Cook's?'

Nope? I'll just be crying in the corner then.

That might have been your experience of Dave, but mine has been totally different and on quite a few occassions I have mentioned things to him that have appeared in the next edition of his zine.
Hey it might just depend on when you approach anyone selling outside a ground

I still see Phil Gatenby now and again, anybody want to pass any messages on? :D

He was one of the main people behind 'Stand Up, Sit Down' campaign for standing areas in football stadiums. Never really took off, i think a few will remember the essays posted on here publicising the subject.
