city fanzines....

Dave Wallace doesn't post on here as far as I am aware, and isn't here to defend his self. It's completely classless to slag off another City fan, especially someone who has dedicated so much of his life to entertaining the fanbase as Dave has.

I enjoyed this thread as will many others who are too young to remember the fanzine movement. Please don't make us pull it because you cannot keep your insults to yourself.

I too have thoroughly enjoyed this thread. (even made a contibution way back (and got a cracking couple of music recommendations, by the way!!))

I would hate to see this thread pulled as, despite the already 18 pages, it still has potential.

It has potential to delve back into a time where City's football, on the whole, was woeful, yet our role as fans were - honestly - second to none.

We made our own entertainment, we had our own black humour and we had some of the finest fanzines around, at the time when the fanzine movement WAS a big thing.

It has been muted on here, that a book should be written on the whole scene, and specifically for us, our very own, self-proclaimed "fanzine war"

If, over time, the respective editors have built some bridges, then it would be a shame to burn them again......... BUT, I do find it infinately reassuring that two (the main two??) editors have taken time to comment on this thread (be it here, or via there own blog) because it just show's the passion that those two guys (and their contributors) had/have for their fanzines.......

..... and therefore, utimately their passion for City.

Which, is all of our one common denominator in all of this.

(AND...... they WERE good times, back in the day (aside of the quality of football...lol))

Thought i'd keep the fanzine war's going a little bit longer, the following has been lifted from the KOTK webpage from Dave Wallace;

"There’s been a thread on the BlueMoon website forum regarding fanzines recently with some good mentions for KK which I thank folk for. However, having gone out of my way a few years back to allow Noel Bayley to bury the hatchet I was very, very disappointed to read his posting on this subject. I won’t be posting on the forum as it will only exacerbate that situation from all those years ago, but I will go as far to say that I would have thought by now, especially as he’s a prospective Labour councillor that the lying would stop.
Other postings made me smile with their innacuracies, but particularly the one from the unnamed 64 year old who was going to “spark me” outside the ground. I’m pleased to say he got short shrift from other posters! Who’d be a fanzine editor eh?"

How gracious of Dave to "allow" me to "bury the hatchet"! I ought to grovel at his feet. I also note his lame claim that I have been "lying" while "Other postings made me smile with their innacuracies {sic}." You see, everyone else is wrong in Dave-world, but as he's backed his typically extravagant, if empty, claim up with absolutely no evidence whatsoever I'm not too sure what he's going on about and not for the first time either, eh readers? However, I am amazed that people still buy into this drivel!

Perhaps I could make a claim or two about his erm, activities and actually produce a witness to back it up, but... well, it's not cricket, is it? But I can't quite believe that it's the same good old boy with his bleedin' heart of gold, still playing the victim after all these years. And don't forget folks, that this is the kind of holier-than-thou shit I had to put with for all those years. He never did a thing wrong ever... while I was always cast as the pantomime villain.

Keep on keeping on, eh Dave!

Oh no you wasn't!!

Don't worry Noel, you can always get the Chesterfield 'henchmen' to do a number on him again. Which was another unfounded accusation from Mr Wallace eh?

Quite right; why would he come on here and mix with the great unwashed when he can just spout scrofulous drivel on his own website? I suppose that's classy though, eh?

-- Thu Nov 25, 2010 1:14 am --

Now, there was a pack of lies if ever there was one: I was blamed for something I knew nothing about!

But isn't it funny that His Holiness The Pope is no longer infallible yet King Dave still is!?

He didn't deny my post that be was a miserable, stuck-up twat though.

Yea, thankfully he wasn't quite sad enough to lower himself to your level with that one
My level? Ha fucking ha. Precisely the sort of attitude which shows exactly why Mr Wallace and his acolytes/apologists/inner circle/sycophants are so widely loved and respected by fellow blues. I like you as a poster Hombre but I take people as I find them and as a paying customer of his since the Horton years, I have found the man patronising and rude every time. I'm too young for for his beloved shitty prog rock and I despise karaoke so I guess on his planet that means I can't have a valid opinion on City. Sorry if my reality clashes with your opinion. Guess you'd have to be there.

Let's have it right though - you're the one who's made a few completely uncalled for digs at him on this thread, despite somewhat laughably claiming that the hatchet was buried

To be honest mate I'd hope that he and the average person is above the level of the post in what was quite a nasty little attack

Damn, I had worked out who the other protagonists were, BTH was a bit to easy but I thought El Fat Hombre was Dave Wallace ! That just shows that you should never read to much into a Non De Plume !

noel you like to paint a picture that you are the innocent party in all this why don't you tell everyone on here how you bullied a couple of blue print fanzine editors in the early 90s

punching one in the kippax tunnel

swinging at another two weeks later only for it to be broken up by the old bill

bastard bob

it went something like : taylor stayed in divison 2, that to him was nothing new, now he's chuffed cos he's a blue, super robert taylor

From Issue 10 (sung to the tune of 'Shit on Lou Macari')

One-nil down and we were set,
Another year of shame and debt,
Then who put the ball in the City net,
That bastard Robert Taylor...

Bastard, bastard Bob,
Bastard, bastard Bob,
Bastard, bastard Bob,
Bastard Robert Taylor...

Two-nil down all hope had gone,
City 's chances down to none,
But Kevin Horlock pulled back one,
Worried Robert Taylor...

Worried, worried Bob,
Worried, worried Bob,
Worried, worried Bob,
Worried Robert Taylor.

Five more minutes must be wrong,
City fans raise one last song,
Then Paul Dickov came along,
Gutted Robert Taylor...

Gutted, gutted Bob,
Gutted, gutted Bob,
Gutted, gutted Bob,
Gutted Robert Taylor.

Taylor stayed in Division Two,
That to him was nothing new,
But now he's chuffed 'coz he's a Blue
Super Robert Taylor...

Super, super Bob,
Super, super Bob,
Super, super Bob,
Super Robert Taylor

cheers impeccable... that was... impeccable !
