The Insider: Manchester City to announce £50m sponsorship bonus
The Premier League champions will unveil several new commercial deals.
MANCHESTER CITY SET FOR SPONSORSHIP WINDFALL
By Paul Clennam

Manchester City are poised to announce a raft of multi-million pound sponsorship deals in the next few weeks which could be worth as much as £50m a year.

The Premier League champions are putting the final touches to their £200m City Football Academy training facility, with Manuel Pellegrini's squad set to move in next month.

The club's owners have been in high-level talks with a number of major global companies about attaching their name to sections of the 80-acre state-of-the-art site.

The 7,000-seater Arena name, along with the central performance centre and footbridge, which links it to the Etihad Stadium, are all in the cash pot.

City currently earn around £40m a year through their Etihad sponsorship of the shirts and stadium and hope to at least match that figure with a string of new sponsorship deals.

Japanese car makers Nissan recently formed a lucrative partnership with City and are thought to be one of the companies in the bidding.

City's Abu Dhabi owners were hit with a record £50m fine for breaching Uefa's Financial Fair Play rules this summer, though the club believe they can one day overtake neighbours United when it comes to bringing in commercial revenue.

Tenner that Wenger moans about this.

Has Wenger approved these CFA sponsor deals?

Take that Platini, UEFA and the rag media. But no doubt this is some kind of "FFP dodge" and cheating according to them.

May as well take that off them, it's all they have left.

Won't be long before that happens, their revenues are expected to drop by 10% this season to £385 - 395m, while we had £330m in 13/14.

Though their adidas deal will kick on next season that will help them probably widen the gap again a bit, especially if they get to CL next season.

What has football become, when opposing fans are reduced to comparing sponsorship deals and turnovers?

Financial UnFair Play has a lot to answer for.......

football is a business, and what will scare the status quo more than anything is if FFPR does go, because City are proving to be a very effective and positive business model and will look like a lucrative model to new investors, who in a improving global climate, and with billions upon billions of untapped potential in the global football market, now have a clear business model to follow, which is ours.

I feel blessed that Sheikh Mansour has and continues to prove his business acumen from day one. Football has always been a business and more so nowadays with such huge sponsorship and TV revenues on offer.

What I find really sad is when I think back to days gone by, winning or losing was all I talked about in regards to football. Money was just something you either had or you didn't, but I suppose fans beiung able to disseminate information via the internet has spawned the lay accountant.

Words like 'amortisation' would have just got an 'eh' and 'what the fucks that got to do with football' from me years back. If nothing else, FFP has been a financial education....... :-)

And all Arsenal fans have graduated with honours.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

So with this new and increased sponorship is anyone able to make an educated guess as to how much we will be able to spend in the coming transfer windows?
