Mods - move this if on wrong thread===============but worth a read on City's finances.

<a class="postlink" href="http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/</a>

Just a quick piece taken from it :

There has been press speculation that the Etihad sponsorship deal will be extended for a further five years, bringing in an additional £320 million. Given that three years of the deal have already elapsed, that would imply an annual payment of £50 million going forward.

In addition, it is understood that City will sign a further five-year deal with three partners for a total of £80 million to sponsor their new training complex, including the splendid new 7,000 capacity stadium for reserve and academy matches.

There is room for improvement with City’s kit supplier deal with Nike, which is worth £12 million a season. Although this six-year deal, signed in 2013, doubled City’s revenue compared to the previous Umbro agreement, it is now well behind other clubs’ latest deals: United £75 million (Adidas), Arsenal £30 million (PUMA) and Liverpool £25 million (Warrior).

Since UEFA have ruled Etihad to be a legal deal, could they even stop us if we renegotiated to something ridiculous like that PSG/Qatar one? Say, £120m per year?

Nope

They couldn't as things stand, but I'm pretty sure they'd find a way to do so. Don't think Etihad would be too keen on paying well over the odds just to help City either.

I didn't understand the figures he'd quoted for the Etihad deal at first. He's assumed it was £40m a year and three years have elapsed. I mistakenly thought it was originally five years but it was actually ten, which means extending it for 5 years will make it a 12 year deal, for a total of £600m. Hence £50m a year.

Will not happen though.. Etihad got other ways of spending money as well you know

Where would the club go if the pinch cost us the title or we end up trophy less? We could of withstood the pinch if it was on a level playing field, but with clubs spending big, and transfer fees & TV revenues increasing then surely we will have to play catch up again soon.
How about Scott Sinclair to NY for $50M, if Chel$ki can do it with Luis then why can't we ;-)

Because the New York Yankees would hardly accept that price?... They are part owners you know, $50m means $10m out of their pockets.
And you don´t bulldooze the guys that own the stadium you must use

Ahh, I didn't realise you were talking £50 million a year ;) , I can't see that being correct. Where did that quote come from by the way?

I thought it said an extra 340m from etihad to extend for a further 5 years and then 80m from three new sponsors over 5 years

I make that 84m per year

There has been press speculation that the Etihad sponsorship deal will be extended for a further five years, bringing in an additional £320 million. Given that three years of the deal have already elapsed, that would imply an annual payment of £50 million going forward.

according to this statement, from what I can understand, it seems that the existing arrangement, which has been running for 3 years has had 5 years added to it, and a total of 320M pounds.

If we take the etihad deal to be worth 400M over 10 years, then for the next 7 years we have 280M of the existing deal left and adding 340M and 5 years means that the new deal would be worth 620M over 12 years. Thats about 50M per year, so an additional 10M/year
Correct, and the £80 million quoted is a five year deal from three partners for the campus. So it's an additional £10M a year from the Etihad deal and £16M a year from the campus, hence an additional £26M a year or £66M a year in total from both deals.

In addition, it is understood that City will sign a further five-year deal with three partners for a total of £80 million to sponsor their new training complex, including the splendid new 7,000 capacity stadium for reserve and academy matches.

yes.

I see there would appear to be some confusion over our restrictions in the transfer market.

It's clear that the club feel that we're in the clear having taken our "pinch". I just wonder if there were to be further reins on our ability to spend next summer and say Messi was available or we had to spend big to meet Homegrown rules, would the club at that stage just do ignore the FFP end of things and buy the players it felt were needed?

Only something I was considering in the light of the situations with Milner and of course the issues at Barca.
