talkRag want the UKDoping agency involved now as major drug issue at city
The only detailed source at the moment seems to be the Guardian. Reading their most recent article they seem to be pretty balanced about it - no lurid headlines. The way I read it though, is that city have transgressed officially 3 times in a year with details of more than 5 players whereabouts. So I guess its how you look at it. Is it admin and paperwork - yes, nobody could argue that. Is it also a key part of anti drug policing to ensure that random testing is effective - yes it certainly is. So personally i'm pretty disappointed that the club have let this happen. If it happens once - that's a mistake. If it happens three times, thats more systemic failure in what is an important regulatory process.
It's the "At home" bit I can't get to grips with. Are certain players told that they can expect a visit around such a time by testers, or are names drawn out randomly with the intention of entrapment with individuals being told they must remain at home that evening?
I accept that the regulations are the same for all and everyone has to accept them but I can see it going wrong somewhere, the 'at home' aspect catching out Olympic athletes too.
I see they have changed the article. quite an important point if we are being targeted way above the average.Come on mate they're only out by 1100%
My reading of it, which granted, is principally from The Guardian, is that these errors are in the timing and whereabouts of training schedules rather than individuals. However, in either case it's the club that is held responsible by the FA and as a result must have the correct checks and controls in place. No doubt the club will make a statement at some point and we will know more. The thing that really boils my piss about this is that it hardly helps in any future discussion with the FA about applying the rules of the game!Agree with this but assuming City have done all in their power to get details accurate and the players have given incorrect details what else can they do ?
I am hoping it is not deliberate by the powers that be to fudge a known problem with one or more players.
Our players are millionaires some with attitude and we all know how our manager decided certain players would not be worth the hassle to embrace his change philosophy so maybe the admin problem stems from players saying one thing then doing another. Our manager has enough trouble getting our star players to act as a team then shoot accurately so heaven knows what some may get up to during their non working time.
If it is player related perhaps we should have an internal fine system in place to cover the cost of fines or suspensions should any player transgress from his statement of his off site whereabouts. Or maybe the FA will give us the special treatment (like the FFP book inspection saga) and have an inspection team on site daily for a set period and will disrupt our training schedules to test randomly.
3 months in advance actually, although they're allowed to make alterations under certain circumstances.i know that for cyclists/athletes its up to the athlete themselves to register a time slot with the anti doping people when they will be available and where they will be during this time. this can be done the day before by text or on a website i think so there is no reason for it not to be up to date. id assume that this would be the same for footballers too.
