City fined £35,000 for anti-doping admin error

So it's the responsibility of our Medical Department to manage this? We're doomed.
Probably stuff falling down the cracks with Pep's medical team changes.

I can imagine it's like herding cats trying to identify where players are everyday.
There is a smartphone app called ADAMS that athletes use but it's a nightmare to use - even with a case manager (drugs education officer) helping you out to fill in the correct details. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/33189303

The good news is the testing process for team sports is a lot less rigorous and generally doesn't involve home visits.

The only detailed source at the moment seems to be the Guardian. Reading their most recent article they seem to be pretty balanced about it - no lurid headlines. The way I read it though, is that city have transgressed officially 3 times in a year with details of more than 5 players whereabouts. So I guess its how you look at it. Is it admin and paperwork - yes, nobody could argue that. Is it also a key part of anti drug policing to ensure that random testing is effective - yes it certainly is. So personally i'm pretty disappointed that the club have let this happen. If it happens once - that's a mistake. If it happens three times, thats more systemic failure in what is an important regulatory process.
Good post. The reality is that if united were currently in this situation, I doubt many on here would be saying, "who cares, it is just paperwork", people would be taking the opportunity to point the finger and accuse them of cheating. I doubt we are cheating but we have left ourselves open to suspicion and accusations. This was all so avoidable and the club only has itself to blame when horrendous media outlets like talksport take the opportunity to imply that we are cheating.

and how would we prove that in this case?

I was speaking in general terms really. I'm afraid it seems we're guilty as charged in this case. But I wonder how closely other clubs are monitored?

One of the problems is that clubs continually have to juggle with fixture changes - & of course, want to be able to call EDS & Academy kids into the squad at short notice. Sounds as if we've done this without updating the whereabouts sheets. Wonder how far in advance of any changes we have to inform the FA & Mr Gill??

Nobody would find out if it was Utd - Mr Gill would sort it. Clubs with FA reps obviously have an advantage

I'm not so sure about that, this might be spot on, rules and regs applied to all and so on and so forth, or it might be one of those rules that's on the books, applied, not applied, quiet reminder, hey-ho no worries. The world is full of rules like that, laws, restrictions and shit on the books, in society, in work, applied, not applied, sometimes, never, when we get round it.

If you are looking to make life difficult for an organisation or a person, you, me, all of us, you'd be amazed at the rules we break everyday. I can't remember who it was, some top copper in the Met said that everyone of us is an offender it's just that plod can't be arsed to do anything about it.

You come to the attention of a regulatory, or law enforcement agency and they've a gripe against you, you're bang to rights on something or other, believe me.

I'm pretty certain that there isn't anything underhand here.

I suspect lots of clubs have similar problems, but not at the 5 at a time level.

Imagine the meltdown on here if it was Leicester...

Sorry, didn't read all articles, but did it say exactly 5 or at least 5, as in could be the whole squad if for example they decided to stay after a game for training in another city? Whatever is porr on someone's part because presumable you are told after the first time it happens, so do it again and then again a 3rd time - isn't that the definition of insanity, keep making the same mistakes...
