City Football Group | Secure $650m loan facility for infrastructure projects (p 54)

I know what Sam Lee sauggested but he's only 1 journalist. I don't think the deal changes anything. It's more recognition of City's worth. It doesn't mean City have £500m to spend in the transfer market, or £500m to spend on the stadium. It means the Sheikh is even richer.
Which means he wont have to put the price of oil up, if we want to buy Mbappe. (Just shuffle it through another fake sponsorship). Take that Hoeness!

I wrote here once that there are three kind of sporting franchise owners: owners in it to make money every year, those who are in it to make money via appreciation of the value of the club over time, and those in it for the fun and excitement of owning a franchise for wins, with the income/sale price less important.

Looks like the Sheikh is all three!!!

This is really huge news and there will be lemon trees sprouting up all over tomorrow.

It’s simply a $500M investment in CFG, which flows to the owner of the shares currently, which would be Mansour. The bigger thing is that FOR $500M, a serious equity group has accepted “only” a 10% stake, with an expected investment horizon of a decade.THAT values CFG in the stratosphere, and I’m sure it makes the Chinese investors very happy, too!

Billion here, billion there. Soon, you are taking real money!!!

As the rest of football drools at what ADUG has done with City, one can only hope the envy and jealousy associated with a $500M investment and $5B valuation doesn’t force anyone to VAR us even more!!!

This should 100% put an end to the bullshit fake sponsorship money stuff. I know Silver Lake. They're a serious operation and wouldn't invest $1, let alone $500m without knowing the finances inside and out. This won't stop anyone, obviously, but it's true.

Exactly and it means the plans over the investment time horizon are likely pretty robust . . . that or the Sheikh sees this as temporary franchise value plateau. :)

SL is local and I know a few people there, being a finance type -- I am absolutely over the (blue) moon about this news!!!
