Yeah. It doesn't explain what you've mentioned, however I think there are probably other reasons (can't give a yellow this early in the match, incompetence/bad calls, the perceived reputation of some of our players, a salt of the earth player getting stuck into those fancy dan foreigners) first and foremost rather then widespread corruption. Occams Razor and all that.

You can quite clearly see it with Kompany. He's always willing to cop a yellow to stop the play. I think it was the Everton game where the ball was spread wide to Calvert-Lewin and Komps just ran straight through him near the touchline and copped the yellow. It happens so often in our games that I think it is clearly an instruction from Pep.
I don't know mate. Probably the same reason why two of our goals didn't get flagged for offside against Watford - a genuine mistake or incompetence.
