City Live

The arts and mainstream football do not mix.

This should have been apparent to anyone who watched those daft bands at the end of the last game at Maine Road. A football crowd is far too diverse to be entertained "en masse", unless that entertainment is football itself.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than be at this event, because of it's cheesiness and awkwardness. But those of you of a sensitive disposition might want to be ready for some pisstaking by your United friends if the place is empty.

Yet there will be some (the club assumes 10,000) that will like to attend this sort of thing.

This is not trying to entertain "a football crowd en masse", no one is forced to go. Wait and see what the line up is first before saying it will be empty.

Spot on. Alot of piss taking was done that day on the way back to the Clarence. It just doesn't work.

Hang on you negativity merchants, it also double as the awards from last year so it would be a good do to have a drink and watch the players receive their awards and get a chance to hear from our new manager addressing the fans I'm sure.

Think I'll probably make the effort if there's nowhere else I need be as I wouldn't want our new manager's first meeting with the fans to be a half empty room so I'll play my part.

Any excuse for a piss-up eh? ;)

I love the (PR's) idea that Vinny knows who Damon Gough is

Cheerleaders at half time next season?

It all just be down to age/preference and what a particular fan enjoys doing in their role as a City fan.
The blokes I used to go with were all alot older than me, so I took on their mentality of pub - football - pub - curry, which was almost ritual on a weekend especially. If one of us said 'fancy that MTV-style awards/disco that City are putting on?', they would get ripped apart.

The opposite of that of course is the fans who partake in anything the club does, or those with city-supporting kids. They will rightfully enjoy it, and good luck to them. All part of the new-era of supporting a football club in my eyes, and many fans, myself included, are stuck on the Kippax in the pissing down rain, looking forward to another shit load of beer after ;-)

You being stuck in that era may have something to do with the fact that you have not been a regular City goer for a decade now due to circumstance.

Right on cue, I knew you would reply with that.

No though, it has nothing to do with that, and it isn't a decade i've not been going, however that matters not. If my circumstances changed tomorrow and I could afford a season ticket for life, my match-going experience would be exactly what it was, as that is how I enjoyed my football.
