City matchday presenters sacked over podcast (P6)

In the 'Mr Wong' persona, McClean was recorded saying: 'You like Jackie Chan? Me (sic) like Jackie Chan! We no (sic) have paperwork or Jackie Chan film on plane. You need Jackie Chan film on plane.'

Laugh?

I never started. The only people who might raise a smile are those that laugh their bollocks off at the 'Bobby Charlton touches kids' line at the end of the Bernardo song.

Comedy foreign accents: Are they ever a good idea?

A lot of jokes are offensive, I don't think anyone was making the argument that an accent can't be considered offensive, just as someone doing a scouse accent or manc one can be. It could have been something they said was offensive enough for action to be taken without it being racist, most people saying "no room for racism" were only going off the fact that he used an accent was my point. Since the clip is nowhere to be found.

The intent is often what makes a joke racist or the use of an accent. I hadn't heard the clip to be fair but I had my doubts that it would be. All I see there is the "no paperwork" bit, that has connotations to it. So perhaps I do stand corrected but it would be nice to actually hear/read the full thing. Also it doesn't seem very funny either as I suspected.

Good appalling behaviour from both of them.
Racism has no place in today's society.

Unless you are running for president or prime minister

Small people get pissed off with this but if it comes to an election they will ignore such behaviour for whatever reason they have.

Examples include:

1. They support the party that has the racist leader.
2. They could subconsciously agree

Then they reeport small stuff in comparison like this because it gives them a chance to feel like they have 'done something'

I tempted to say calm down, calm down but worried I might be accused of stereotyping scousers.

I could say, it's ok our kid but I might offend other mancs

I could say, aye fuckin ell jimmy, but the Scots might get upset. Dont fancy a Glasgow kiss at the next match. Oops I done it again.

When did society break down so much?
