City Matters thread

As I understand it that's being enforced by the council. City have obviously made representations but it's a council decision. I promise you we are working with the club to find solution. Mark Todd the disabled fans rep has done absolutely loads of work on this, completely unprompted and pretty much independently. If anyone wants a good example of how City Matter can be effective Mark is it.
The decision on the consultation is apparently made by one of the council directors and a cabinet member, no democratic committee discussion.

I'm not sure it's lawful to include industrial areas in a residential parking zone - but including a grot spot like Upper Helena Street in a "residential zone" is crazy. It's an environmental hazard zone. (Use Google maps...)

May I also add that publishing the minutes is not confidential surely? I know I keep going on about it but it helps the fans to know that the whole committee care about their ‘constituents’ not just one or two.
I understand your last post in reply to Prophet of Doom @Prestwich_Blue and your frustration with some posters (probably me as well) continually going on about CM and the club not keeping in touch with the fans but I think you’d be the same on this side of the fence. :-)
A couple of years ago I sent an email to all the reps who represented my dynamic, old, female, SC holder, OSC Member etc and only two responded. Guess who they were? You and KP. That’s not me brown nosing just saying. Since then there have been changes I know.
I had very seriously considered (because people asked me to) putting my name forward last time but it was just when everything health wise went haywire! I throw that in in case anyone says why didn’t you do something and stop moaning. :-) :-)

Sorry for the essay. Just needed to say it. *wry grin*
It's a source of great frustration, shared with your good self, that the club seem to find it such a problem to publish even bare-bones minutes. Although in many ways those meetings with the club are the least part of what City Matters does, it completely undermines the rest of the good work of the group, via smaller working groups and individual interactions.

A number of people have posted that City Matters are told things in confidence by the club.
Whilst it's not in the same category as dipper employees having computer passwords, I would have thought a Chelsea fan sat at the meetings was a tad stupid.

thought this myself, imagine how much stuff was passed over

This is why we end up with fucking marching bands and cringefest 'entertainment' at the Etihad. Because we have complete weirdos acting on behalf of actual fans (who understand football culture).

As a rule of thumb, City, if you're reading this. A good starting point for a FAN REPRESENTATIVE is that they support City (wholly, not mainly) and that they go and watch the first team week in and week out - like actual fans. that isn't too much to ask right?
So are you putting your name forward next time the elections come up? If not, that's how the weirdos get in!

Will you be able to share any new information about the North stand expansion update or will that also be in confidence?

I have 2 questions.

Can you ask the club if the expanded North stand is going to be named the Centurion stand or not? We're led to believe it will be.

And if it is, why weren't the fans consulted about the naming of the expanded North stand?

Thanks.

PS. Thanks for coming on and answering questions.
Daft name if true. Marginally better than Standy McStandface.

Nothing will ever beat the QPR game for Entertainment in 98, here we was with one foot in the third division and about 5mins before the team came out and provided us with comedy, we had what can only be called a pub singer giving us his worst rendition of bluemoon and trying to get the crowd involved by continuosly breaking off from song and saying come on everyone.
The fact we was all depressed as fuck seemed to pass him by and Jamie Pollock was about to do his one man band show. Yep, was a great day but oddly i look back at it with fondness somehow.
Whoever was in charge of pre match entertainment must have literally been having a laugh.

That's completely ridiculous. Some of you need to give your heads a wobble.
Not really. You yourself stated you had been told stuff but asked not to share with us. I fully understand that and I fully accept it but to have a representative who supports another team...... is the women's team never discussed ?
I just find it shall we say, unusual.

I have serious doubt about any suggestion that the club divulge genuinely confidential information at CM 'fan' meetings.

There's no such thing as 'confidential' when a room full of people are involved. If it was information of genuine / great importance, someone would be telling the world and his wife about it.

The club pays lip-service to supporters / supporter groups. The very thought that they'd even inadvertently reveal anything 'confidential' or potentially harmful to the club if revealed, is risible.

Feeding scraps to keep the plebs happy. It's the 21st century, not the 1950s.

It wasn't me who said they were asked not to disclose certain information, it was the CM reps. No one is saying they have been told we're signing Bellingham for 200 mill. but shhhhh say nowt.
However, I assume City Women were discussed and that could well be something they dont want known. A Blue cannot know but a Chelsea fan can !
