City Matters thread

Is there any point in having city matters?

They clearly have no influence or say over anything the club do. They released statements against price rises and the Madrid ticket criteria and it achieved nothing.

They’d be better off resigning and helping to form a proper supporters trust alongside the other city fan groups. Seems like they genuinely care about these issues, but it’s pointless with this club

To be fair the tweet came out after the fiasco yesterday and the tickets had already sold out. City Matters should have been on the case as soon as the criteria was announced not after the horse had already bolted. For any meaningful change you have to be pro-active not re-active.

The club knew full well what they were doing yesterday both with the semi-final ticket sales and seasoncard rises but did it anyway. We'll probably have some hollow assurances that 'lessons have been learnt' and that it won't happen again.... until next time.

I dont think the club would give a flying if they all resign to be honest but agree that they should.

Thankless task, I wouldnt want to do it.

The club is a very different animal to the one old timers like me started supporting.

I have read this forum..to be fair there are people like PB and others who in all likelihood give up free time and maybe just get travelling expenses..I do not know..maybe nothing.Probably nothing.
But you are missing the point. It is not City Matters. It is the Club totally failing to listen and do WTF they like..of course minutes should be available, of course they should listen. But if they do not do so it is not down to CM. I hope that the CM meetings are open to supporters to attend. That should be the case. So, after many years of success the powers that be do their own thing and how can you argue with that ? Indeed there is a part of me that likes the German model of Club ownership. Free tickets on the trams, yes please.Listen to fans, yes please.Sort the travelling infrastructure for a Club that brings so much to the local economy.Yes please.CM are constrained, it is so obvious.

If the city matters reps were to resign it would put the club in a difficult position as they are mandated by the PL to have a structure in place to discuss matters relevant to fans. As the reason for such a resignation would be the fact that the club refuse to engage with the fan base they would need to address the concerns we all have with city matters. All out now.

Presumably the supporters club say nowt so as not to jeopardise their tickets?
Smacks of the media’s general silence on this country’s corruption in return for access

Call me cynical but they'd probably soon resolve this by creating their own puppet group and pay them if need be. They'd rather have some nodding dogs on the pay roll than having people that are actively willing to challenge them.

The club cancelled a meeting with City matters two weeks ago (at the last minute) I’d be interested to know if that meeting went ahead later, or have the club thought eff it, we’re going ahead with the rises & Madrid ticket criteria anyway & we only want to release that info at the opportune moment, I wouldn’t blame City matters reps if they got wind & wanted no part of it, then had a statement prepared. This is 100% on the club, if City matters, 1894 etc aren’t strong enough to take the club to task, we shouldn’t criticise them, we should be offering more support

Couldn't write it...... So potentially the most important meeting the group have with the club over the course of the year is cancelled 2 weeks before renewals?!!! Presumably as they knew they were going to get grilled and what they had to say would be unpopular.

It's almost like a kid playing truant as he hasn't done his homework on time and doesn't want reprimanding for it.

Of course you are right,,but,, the only way is to make this pertinent is to open it up to public scrutiny.. peeple get the minutes and voices are heard. CM guys are stuffed.Whilst we have been blessed with success, the one negative is interaction with fans. Trust me it is not the people who represent us on CM..It is the Club.
