City Matters thread

A handful of bitter tossers like you come out with this stuff constantly. Care to tell the forum how I did that?

Wankstains like you have no fucking idea how much time and effort we put in to try to make things better for fans, against a management team who really don't seem to give a fuck.
Anyone who doesn't agree with you gets abuse off you.

Shows you are clearly not fit to represent anyone.

So, without any evidence or justification, you accuse people putting in lots of time and effort entirely voluntarily (I never claimed a penny in expenses) of feathering their own nests, yet complain when you get abuse back?

So again I'll ask you to tell me how I represented my own interests for 4 years. If you want to apologise for that slur than I'll reciprocate.

I didn't say all that, nor have I given abuse.

It was a general comment on City Matters, you vote for people with knowing a thing about them bar where they sit if that, and there is no consultation with fans.

Even NDAs were mentioned. If they can't speak to fans about ideas they only represent their own views and nothing else. It was fair comment and you are not on City Matters.

I've no inside knowledge but aren't City matters are just a collective of fans who meet on occasion to discuss areas of concern with the club? That's all they can do and hope the club listen. They hold no power in themselves. A bit like unions, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

While I don't necessarily agree with Corky's generalisation, I have to say that you haven't done yourself any favours by referring to people as "bitter tossers" or "wankstains" in your response.

Perhaps you should have chosen your words more carefully then because when people say "they only represent themselves", that sounds like we do it out of self-interest. I'd like to think you didn't mean that but that's how it came across. In that case I apologise. But you're still wrong.

But you really don't have any idea about how we represent fans in meetings (and I absolutely take the point about minutes but they'd only give you part of the story). We talk to fellow fans and people contact us via email and social media. The problem is that you can't please everybody all the time. I sorted out lots of individual problems that fans had, sometimes involving quite upsetting situations. You could say exactly the same about local councillors but I've known quite a few over the years and wouldn't dream of knocking the hard work they all put in.

I can also assure you that we were very careful in meetings to ensure we thought the impact of things through. But whatever decisions were eventually made, someone moaned. Away ticket points was probably the most contentious one. I know that negatively impacted at least a couple of people on the committee who were regulars at away games but it was felt that gave more people a better chance. There's also decisions we'd like to have taken but the club either dragged their feet or simply refused.

You're right. I overreacted as I thought he was accusing us of self-interest, as a number of others on here have in the past.

“We don’t know anything about the fans that do it”? I had flicked through the odd copy of King of the Kippax and also read Bluemoon before joining and knew exactly who PB was. Having since met him, he’s an honest, modest Blue with great humour to him. Exactly who we want representing us.

I’ve never volunteered to do anything with City but take my hat off to those who do.

Hello to you all, my name is Francesca and I am the LGBTQ+ representative and Vice Chair 2020/21 for City Matters.

4289-EBD2-E86-C-4-B10-8-E04-86-A38-B8-F288-C.webp

I am originally from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where I followed them as a team and first moved to Manchester as a teenager for university. It was then I fell in love with the place and a massive part of that was Man City but always followed them as I admired the determination and growth over the years.

I am very happy and proud to be serving as a rep for a second season. I hope to continue to help diversity across different demographics, not just LGBTQ+ within City and in turn among football, as it truly is everyone’s game.

I am currently studying a MA in Sports journalism at The University of Salford - a big reason for choosing to study there and to move back to the area was because of Man City.

I hope that any issues or questions you may have you can come straight to me and if I can’t directly deal with it, I will forward it to the appropriate person/people at the Club.

Her ad lib lines are well rehearsed..
