City Matters thread

Hello to you all, my name is Francesca and I am the LGBTQ+ representative and Vice Chair 2020/21 for City Matters.

I am originally from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where I followed them as a team and first moved to Manchester as a teenager for university. It was then I fell in love with the place and a massive part of that was Man City but always followed them as I admired the determination and growth over the years.

I am very happy and proud to be serving as a rep for a second season. I hope to continue to help diversity across different demographics, not just LGBTQ+ within City and in turn among football, as it truly is everyone’s game.

I am currently studying a MA in Sports journalism at The University of Salford - a big reason for choosing to study there and to move back to the area was because of Man City.

I hope that any issues or questions you may have you can come straight to me and if I can’t directly deal with it, I will forward it to the appropriate person/people at the Club.

Hope to hear from you soon! Much blue love to you all lol

Whilst we’re on about the City Matters group, 2 Tweets in 9 months.

Nothing like keeping City fans updated with what’s being discussed with the club on our behalf.

At least City Matters have asked the club to ‘hopefully grant our request’ to freeze season ticket prices for next season. Something the fans have been asking the club to do for the last 10 seasons without any success. Good luck!

Errrr, when did they consult with us fans? I’ve never heard from them. I don’t do Twitter as I’m sure many City fans don’t.

EDIT: not that I disagree with them lobbying the club on prices just the statement that we’ve been consulted.

How influential has Canal Street Blues (CSB) been in connecting the club with it’s LGBTQ+ fan base?

I think CSB is incredibly inclusive - it is a very safe and friendly environment. Again, like the club, they are top of any issues the fans experience and will listen to you.

It is a collaborative effort between us. On their own, they are great and have a huge impact on creating safe spaces for fans to be together at games but also between us all, I think we can make a huge difference.

The last CM minutes on the OS, unless they are somewhere else on the OS, were added in March 2022, over a year ago.

Who meet with the club on a monthly (yearly) basis.

I used to search/check regularly but I’ve given up as it was just wasted effort.

So Barnsley, to City, to Chelsea.... more confused than Mark Goldbridge
