I don't know who else fell on my side but I never rated Stephen Ireland, at all!
I thought he was well average and a fucking lazy **** defensively letting players run freely from midfield into our box on numerous occasions which lead to a few goals (namely that Scholes' last minute header to win the game and the late equaliser for Burnley in that 3-3 game).
I know a lot thought he was great but I certainly didn't.
He was great for that one season.
Either side of it, lazy & shite & hid from receiving the ball if he wasn't 100%.
The greatest divider of opinion must have been Rodney though, as some have said.
Actual full blown protests outside the ground when he was transfer listed & fans busting up with real club heroes about it too, proper angry stuff.
Never seen anything like that re one player.

Elano - personally I'm not a fan and I know im not alone but I'm fully aware there are lots of people who think he was the nuts!
Balotelli - for obvious reasons his demeanour/personality will always divide opinion!
Edghill - local lad who in the early days looked like the real deal! I can even remember him getting a call up to an England training camp. Turns out he wasn't much cop, but that doesn't excuse some of the shit he got dealt over the years! He's as blue as the majority of us.
Andy Cole - did a decent job in his short time with us but you still had the feeling he'd have cheered if united had scored against us.
Nicky summerbee - tough for him with that name plus I think he came out as a United fan (might be wrong on that)

Nicky is Blue. He speaks like a fan. I met him professionally several times.
Well away at Port Vale, he and Ian Brightwell werent playing and came and sat in front of us in the away end, club blazers and all, when if you hate Man Utd clap your hands started up, Bobby was on his feet clapping along and at the repeated clap at the end, he clapped right in Nicky's face, who wasnt clapping at all. He definitely also said he was a scum fan as a child.
