City reportedly pushing for Girona to play Barca in Miami

Why would they be? They have a job, which is to grow what was a nouveau riche 1time league winner supported by a sheikh into a superclub which can go head to head with United, Real, Bayern & Barca on all fronts for decades.
.
eh?

Fair enough, but if the CFG weren't full square behind it then I doubt Girona would be in the vanguard of playing games in the states.
Probably not, but they probaby wouldn't be in La Liga either, but it would wouldn't make any difference to a La Liga game being played in the States that would happen Girona or no Girona. As it's happening though anyway then Girona may feel with CFG behind it they should be at the forefront it doesn't mean CFG are in any way behind the initiative..

Girona were a pretty much a "nothing" club, if one exists. Never been in the top division, never played a league game against Barcelona, hadn't played a competitive game against them for about 50 years, never played Madrid at home.

Does anyone actually think that missing 1 home game every 5 or 6 years will make their fans feel ill towards CFG? "Oh sure we've got permanent status in the top division and will play Real and Barca at home 9 times at home in the next 5 years - but it should have been 10! CFG OUT!!

They probably aren't thrilled, but their clubs getting a shit load of money, exposure, they're getting 20-40% of their season ticket back, and it's the price they're paying for the most successful period in their history, delivered to them by CFG.
Since when were City nouveau riche? I firmly regard us as old money that pissed away the family fortune in the 70's, and 80's. And we'd won at least 2 (probably 3) league titles by the time Soriano turned up.

They should care about the history and traditions of City because that is what defines a football club and that's what sustained us for 30 potless years. They are only custodians of a tradition that is older than every employee and supporter of the club. I have no interest in supporting a generic media brand / corporate entity. I support a football club.

It's not a fashionable view but if there was a choice between ownership by the Sheik or ownership by the supporters I'd take supporter ownership every time. That's not a criticism of Sheik Mansour or his ownership which for most part have been professional, dignified and sophisticated and highly successful, it's just a general principle.

I thought Girona was not technically part of CFG, they have a stake but not full control. Isn't it Peps brother that has a stake among others and with over 50%.

On the CFG site, they're classed not as a CFG team but as being among the Group's 'Other football investments'. CFG and Girona Football Group (the prime mover behind which seems to be Pep's brother) each own 44.3% - as detailed here: https://www.cityfootballgroup.com/Our-Business/Other-club-investments
