The price's are the same as in the ground ie, £3.60 for fosters, bitter and cider (pint). the food was 100% better than they have in the ground and the price's are the same as in the ground.... but more choice. Well done City should be great on match days!!
Pub and chippy for me in that case.
Me too.

A gimmick at best, sensible prices would mean MOST blues using the facilities, but "football" prices will mean most stay eating and drinking away from the club.

Pity they didn't listen to their own surveys.

Have your 50p ready, they are not free.

I'm really hoping that was tongue in cheek......but sadly I fear not.

Also your comment to bladdered is all fine and well about family friendly, but if that is all City want then they will force many fans away eventually. Its his choice to have a few pints so why is that a problem to you ? Also why should someone who wants maybe 1 pint, and a decent burger be ripped off by our own football club (or any others before anyone reminds me of football prices) ?

If City want this to make money for the club, then they should want to attract as many people as possible, and not turn them away, stupid pricing does exactly that, and the stadium prices are utterly ridiculous (see Dubai blue post above, that it is dearer than Dubai !).

I would much sooner pay my money to Manchester City, but I will continue to abstain until prices are at least reasonable. They surveyed lots of us on this, and I know that most of the people I know who responded said that prices were TOO high.

Very Very and so sadly too true.
More and more it seems that the dream we had of MCFC being able to compete with the aritocracy is being dimmed ever more by corporate greed.
Those in favour of this latest development will say about the high wages paid out, but a simple economics will tell you that 1,000 pints sold at a £1 mark up = a lot less than 15,000 pints sold at a 20p mark up/

The words "family friendly" and "family area" keep getting mentioned.
I'm all for attracting families and kids but in my opinion they should cater for everyone, not just families. There should be an area where loads of fans who want to can get together for a piss up.

Why can we never have the fans say "oh well done City" without all the crap? ffs, ok a pint is more expensive but like a mug I'll be there tomorrow buying a burger for tea and a pint from the ground. Why? Because it's all part of it for me, if you go to giggs it's the same, the Rugby, any sporting event or even a comedy show! It's how it is. No one moans when we go Bolton and they charge £3.60 a pint and £4 for a warm if you're lucky pie, or Wembley and they charge £6 for a hot dog... Yet we follow the trend and all hell breaks out. When have the club not charged this? It's not a suprise, it's not a bolt out the blue like the parking issue (100% increase is a joke but...). Fine, I am ok with people not being happy but dont moan about it as nothing will change, City wont read this and think "oh shit they wont buy a pint at the ground" because enough people will so you dont matter. Like it or not.
Just enjoy the screens and dont buy food/drink, enjoy the bands on the stage, enjoy being around fellow blues. Go for your drinks before the game or even after, it doesnt matter and know one will really care. The club will be here long after we have gone, so enjoy it while you're here and accept this is how any business is run.

Great idea - and they could name it after a City legend, like "Summerbee's Bar" or something

Isn't that a small area next to the cafe from what I've heard?

But the most important question of them all.............................

Is there still numpties serving the bleeding stuff ???????? who understand the queens

the club have to raise money.... if we want a team full of £20m stars we have to pay that little extra. I would'nt do it every week but i will enjoy it a few times this season ( even when its raining ).

I don't really think in the grand scheme of things that getting stung a extra £1 a pint is going to make much difference to the Billions of Pounds in our owners kitty - Its profiteering and they don't need to do it..

the club also have to make money back on their investment for us

And they could so easily make a lot more money for the club, by attracting people to use the facilities they are providing.

not my fault! said:

Why do we have to follow the trend though, why don't start a new one ? You know one where they sell 10000 pints @ £2.50 =£25000 rather than 1000 pints at £3.60 =£3600. The mark up on a pint alone is ridiculous, and that's not mentioning food.

What "others" do is their choice, as a club we get lots of bad PR as it is, but we could improve the PR a little by doing things like making prices at the cloub sensible, nobody is saying give it away free, just charge sensibly, compete with other (smaller) businesses locally, and attract YOUR supporters to buy YOUR services, rather than allow non City business take YOUR money.

Also why should we not be able to complain about it on here ? Its not as if it makes any difference as people keep pointing out.

Does no one go out in town here? It's been well over £3 a pint for a while now. They'll do a fine trade.

One has to remember.

The catering and prices inside the stadium are contracted out, and City can do nothing about that until that contract expires.

However, City Street is run by the club and the 'new' food and drink prices have been set/negotiated by our current owners. I was led to believe that a new cheaper pricing structure(that's current City speak) would be introduced in the future. Hmmm.

Obviously this isn't the case.

I appreciate that City need to start generating more revenue, but City had the perfect opportunity to review the prices and make them more resonable. They've carried out enough surveys over the last few months regarding catering and 'prices', so they know exactly how the supporters feel these subjects.

Wasn't there a poll recently which shown City fans to be on the second lowest average income in the premier league?

I'm not bothered that much, anyway. I'll be laughing at those who have been shafted outside the ground.

Exactly.

I pay £4 for a pint of Peroni in Huddersfield ffs.

To compare it to Mary D's et al is just ludicrous. They have their "market" and City Square will have another. You'd think everyone would be happy... But no.

Perhaps they don't want a bunch of pissed up blokes right outside the family stand...? Maybe that's why they've priced it so...?

Personally I think it's a great idea and am not in the least bit surprised that the prices are what they are. Of course I'd prefer it cheaper but I have the right to not bother if I don't want to. This is just the same argument about Season card/Ticket/Shirt prices... IT ISN"T COMPULSORY.

My "local" when I'm in London is quite upmarket and they don't charge that. Ridiculous.
It's not a local though is it. Any sporting venue, restaurant, museum or bar in London will charge you £3.50 a pint minimum. I get the Virgin Train down from Euston and it's £2 for a small bottle of Coke. £2.50 in the local cinema. It's sadly just the world in which we live in.
Don't know where you go in London but £3.50 a pint would not be the norm.

FFS - I can't believe some of the ungrateful, moaning bastards on this thread.

If you don't like the prices, don't pay them - no-one's forcing you. But don't slag the club off for investing in the area and trying to make the pre-match experience a bit different and a bit more of a communal event for the fans.

I despair at City fans sometimes - never happy unless they're moaning about something, even when there really isn't much worth moaning about!
