City to expand Etihad to 62,000?

Only with a change in PL regulations. The swamp holds 75k, Wembley 88k but the away allocations are still capped at 3k.

You can give more than 3k. Teams like Wigan and Blackburn gave 4-5k whole stands.

It's 3k minimum depending on circumstances or a certain % if you have a pretty small ground.

the fear on expanding again is based on the media hype about empty seats but its only manchester city in football that are tagged that. even the so called we sell out every week at OT and united bollocks have 1000s of empty seats for most games but nothing is said in the media about that. its SOLD OUT is copy and pasted every week by the media and everybody believes it because they hide them in the clouds

manchester city will need more seats and its a must to expand right now and anything over 60.000 is right and is needed for all the good work done in the past ten years on and off the field of play and a new worldwide fan based is going to get better and better with manchester city winning silverware every season. the premier league is now a top 6 league and growing the big games are starting to add up and with everton and newcastle burnley and others having a good away support its simple to see more seats all around is welcome

manchester city are a easy target with the empty seats tag and its the only thing the media can use to bad mouth us and its wrong. like i said every single club in the premier league don't sell out all there tickets for every game and its maybe only 2 or 3 games a season that united sell out that leaves 40 to 50 games with empty seats at OT

manchester city could have a 100.000 stadium and open the gates to everybody and at a very good price for tickets like £30 and sell out for the big games and local away teams like everton burnley stoke and the media would still tag us with empty seats when the away fans from london or the south coast don't turn up. maybe its down to the old little old city tag that was in place from the 1980s when the club and chairman would fudge the books on official match attendance and come up with low gates to fiddle the tax man but how can you fool the old pictures and videos of the kippax and maine road being full and overflowing and then the club comes out with its only 17.000 hahahaha

I was at Hertha Berlin the other week. Size of stadium has little to do with atmosphere if the will of the fan base is there - Hertha are an average team in a huge stadium yet the place was rocking for 90 minutes

And increasing it by 7000 seats at £310 is just £2.17M. That as a percentage of our annual turnover is chicken feed. It will also cost 50 years to recoup the build cost and ensure there are even more empty seats at pitchside as those who are priced out move to a North Stand Level 3. In short, we just don't have the match going or even interested in match going fan base. It may be difficult for some to stomach but that's the reality and thats why we just expanded the South Stand.
Capex isn't included in ffp though so payback isn't really a concern.

My point was that clubs with the largest grounds, including ourselves, choose not to increase the away allocation which is why new regulations would be needed.

We need bigger away allocations and bigger stadia across the board. We used to often take 7,000 to places like Leeds, Sheffield, and Blackburn when we were shit. We had 10,000 plus fans at Oldham, Stoke, and Notts County. We took 6000 plus to West Ham for last year's Cup match on a Friday night.
We could easily get 70,000 plus for the bigger home matches. I have been in many 60,000 plus gates at Maine Road with big away followings.
It is absurd for any football club to turn away paying customers. It would solve the loyalty point debate. We also need much cheaper tickets for younger fans. Premier League clubs need to get their act together.

With all the different kick off times now and most of our games on t.v though there must a good half of the games where away teams return the 3rd tier sometimes like Brighton at the last minute ( obviously they are fairly safe and who want a long Wednesday night trip), that leaves us trying to sell those seats. Obviously it's difficult to have a variable away allocation without moving season ticket holders. In the old standing days it would be easier to move the segregation accordingly.

That maybe true for UEFA FFP, but what about the owners access to capital? Not expecting an answer but the assumption that City have an empty pot of gold to dip into is probably wrong.

The biggest joke in Bournemouth.
Been in the league for quite a few seasons and no ground expansion.
Keep saying they are looking for site for new ground and they might be.
However it would not be too difficult to do a temporary expansion.
They could even put a Gene Kelly in the corner next to the away fans.
1100 is paltry and they should be made to give at least 2000 to away fans.
