Oakie, I think I caught you,re sarcasm there, but on a serious note does the south stand expansion have something to do with the rugby world cup in 2015 ? When Wales wins it ;-)

I wouldn`t bother posting any more yet mate.According to some on here, the Council may take the side of the MEN and decide it aint worth it.Lets wait and see if we get planning permission first.

Yes couldn`t help posting a sarcy comment but done more with TIC than anything else.I understood that the capacity would be upped to 60,000 based on the RWC and so am a little puzzled by other peoples comments that the South Stand work will be carried out,before even looking at the North Stand being built.
I can only assume that the Club want more new ST Holders,but that goes against the MEN`s original shite article.Our friend could raise his ugly head and say "see I told you" and hows that for egg on our faces.Again this poses questions,are we building on both ends plus the additional seating at pitch level ?<br /><br />-- Mon Feb 10, 2014 1:06 am --<br /><br />

I went on a tour around the ground just after Christmas and the guides info was: it would obviously be cheaper to do both ends at once as they would have the machinery on site and be able to buy the materials and have them at the ground in bulk. But the club or very wary of not filling the ground at that capacity except for the bigger games. He said that some games inc cup the ground would look half empty. Unfortunately i can see where he is coming from with this :-/ so i presume it would be more than likely we just extend one end first.

Why do people think these tour guides know everything? I don't think they get to sit in on any high level meetings so they are just giving you their opion.

In terms of doing the two ends - I would suspect they will do the South Stand first (that bit is now obvious!) and monitor the situation between now and the end of 2014 - at some point they need to press the button on the North Stand - to move the contractors and equipment etc.. on to that when the South Stand is completed (or calla halt and just complete the SS) - there will be a cost saving by moving straight from one to the other. No doubt the contractor(s) will have option(s) to continue and do the North Stand. I think its unlikely they won't do both in the next 5 years - so it won't make sense to pause for 2 years between developments - better to press on and get it done. On a separate point if they only do the South Stand does that mean only the Southern ends of the East and West Stands become semi corporate? i.e. there will be no corporate area behind the North Stand to have that half time 'pink gin'.
