City Treble documentary | Club sell rights to Netflix for seven figure sum | To be aired in April (p5)

Probably unpopular opinion but I always find these kind of things tough to watch. The best football documentary I’ve seen is the Sunderland til I die one. That one showed the good, the bad and the ugly. This city one just feels like a complete puff piece designed to show how perfect and great city are.

Aside from the brief pep team talks I just found it far too cringey. Saying that my son absolutely loves it so I understand I’m probably not the target market!
If you want warts n all check out this beauty from 1981. How a football club shouldn't be run.

All or nothing from 17/18 season on Amazon was better from that point of view, I would recommend watching that.
amazing tip thanks. i will start watching it immediately
Have you read pep confidential?
That's a great insight into pep's style all about his first year at Bayern.
If not, read the first one. 2nd one isn't too good.
not yet, but seems like i will have to read it, thanks for that tip!

I like both, but agree the Sunderland til I die ones are excellent. Much more focus on the fans, and I think most fans of other teams have a soft spot for Sunderland. That fanbase deserves to be in the premier league

Yes the club will be really delighted to see contracted players being dissed in a club video.

Get real!
Thats the issue with club made documentaries and why all or nothing is better where they wouldnt have had a choice just like in the Arsenal one they showed the situation with Aubamayeng been thrown out and in the Spurs one when Jose tears Dele apart and they sell christian Eriksen. I didnt say they should show it I am saying because they didnt the whole thing was a bit vanilla. I see why the club didnt do it doesnt mean parts of it werent a bit boring, it prob didnt help that alot of the footage esp eps 1-5 was stuff they had shown throughout the season already.

There’s no bad and ugly to layer in as City didn’t have that side to them last season so can’t see how that comment is relevant.

The Sunderland one is of the best because of the few highs and many lows. Watching it reminded me of City under swales and Lee.
There are definitely more interesting bits that have been purposefully left out, rightly as pointed out above but from a fans perspective esp those who follow the club closely you would have loved to get the detail behind it and the true story.

Watching Pep in action is amazing - what a leader. He knows when to praise, when to criticise, - and seems to praise much more than criticise - even after some set backs. Southampton was the exception - and half-time against Tottenham when he picks out Rico for praise and has a go at the senior players who didn't back him when he took a kicking.

He understands that it's not about the Stars - that everyone - all the staff, whatever their role are part of creating success - even if the poor chef stuck on stage probably wanted to disappear back to the kitchen.

There are times when he may be over intense - I'm not sure I would enjoy being micro-managed the way he does - but he would probably know that and manage in a different way. I like the way he gives people responsibility - he knows that sometimes a different voice is needed. And he is constantly learning - he knew that in the Chelsea CL final half-time talk he was too angry and so against Inter remembered that and approached it in a different way. People in any Leadership role need to watch him and learn.
