Yes, spoilt for thinking a season without winning a trophy isn't good enough.
I actually agree with you but fin the whole of my comment you do not understand so try and read it again and then think about it for a while - you will get it in a while

Aw, does everyone remember August 2011? And do you remember how terrible we were at Wembley in the Community Shield? Aw, that was such a fun time, wasn't it? When we all thought Tom Cleverley was a fantastic midfielder and that David De Gea was a terrible goalkeeper? Do you remember that time? Aw, wasn't it wonderful.

And then do you remember when we went 15 games unbeaten at the start of the season? And how we won the league. Do you remember that, guys? Aw, that was a time I wish I could return to.

To be fair it's not just 1 game we've been poor defensivly. If this was the only shocking defensive effort then I'd be with you. But we've been poor at the back in too many games so far.
Except we haven't been poor at the back in too many games so far. Out of the 7 pre-season games we've played we've kept three clean sheets. Stop panicking over what is pretty much nothing.

This is why I was going mad the other week when people were convinced we were going to win the league because we hammered a very poor and under-prepared Milan side. Friendlies mean absolutely fuck all - like, fuck all - yet people still make sweeping statements based on what is essentially a training exercise.

We were excellent at the back against a full-strength Bayern Munich side and only lost that game because we were deflated by the penalty decision.

The AC Milan game was a freak incident - seriously, 8 goals in half of football - and shouldn't be used to base anything on. We had Garcia and Lescott at the back against one of the best young forwards in world football, and we'd taken our foot off the gas in a big way because we were 5-0 up.

And today, we controlled the game but were caught once by a fantastic pass from Arteta (if Silva had played that pass we wouldn't be looking at how poor the left-back was at not noticing the run, we'd just be going mental about how Silva is world class or something), and two quickfire goals after a lapse in concentration.

Calm the fuck down.

I can see Navas having a very frustrating season. He is going to get kicked to death and cos of the colour of his shirt, referees wont blow for the foul.

Because he is.....since he's one of the best in the world, and certainly in the league

Joe Hart is a decent GK but is not one the best in the world.
Yeah, coz is easy winning the golden glove year after year after year

If he saved every shot this year he'd still be put down on here.

Can you honestly think of one team in the league who wouldn't swap for him in a hart beat (see what I did there, I'm dead good a punditry) ((see did it again))

He won't be winning it this season! Nothing to do with todays game but he isn't the best in the league let alone europe or the world. He's a very good GK who has been fortunate to have the best defence in the league in front of him for a few years.

He's not crap, I'm not putting him down but he is not world class IMHO.

Ps whats a lemin?

Hardly parked the bus. We had possesion in the final third but didn't created anything of note.

Well it looked like it to me...they hoofed the ball forward about 5 times during the game and scored 3 times

I never disagreed with your original post.
I just agreed that having the best defence won us nothing last season.

Nice try though.

Bizarre result. Overall we were the better side.

We got 'caught' 3 times but other than that Arsenal didn't create much. To their credit they were lethal with their chances.

We had several good chances to score and several good 'last third' passages of play but failed to make only one of them count. We were far from lethal.

Positives:

First half Silva was outstanding, linking up really well with Milner & Zabaleta.

Use of balls 'over the top' and balls crossed in (in a variety of ways) from a variety of positions (this didn't happen under Mancini).

Negredo took his goal very very well, showing (as against Bayern) great strength, determination and composure.

Fernandinho showed what a great shielder he is and was everywhere snuffing problems out.

Kompany is getting back to his very best.

Negatives:

We got 'caught' trying to play to high a line and appeared over confident with this especially given Arsenal have some very pacy players.

Hart was poor at coming off his line to smother when one on one.

Clichy needs to learn to use his pace in the attacking phase. Knock it past the full back and whip a cross in. 90% of the time he 'checks back' and slows (or stops) potential counter attacks. Very frustrating.

remember 2 year ago against united in the shield completly outplayed in the 2nd half then went to win the title so not all bad :) better they know one week before that they must push harder

Lescott is shocking. We definitely need another defender.
The thing is, Lescott is a cracking player. In our title winning season he was just as good as Kompany, last season even though he was in-and-out of the starting XI he did well when he came into the side. I have no worries that he will still be good when it counts this season too.
