City v Arsenal Post Match

Pretty much all the players looked isolated without Toure and Nasri knitting it together. Without the control they bring we could really have done with some creativity from the wingers and a set piece threat. We also seemed surprised by the intensity Arsenal played with even though they always do against us.

Today we got outwitted by Wenger.
18 corners should create a few chances but our failure to vary them made it so easy for their defence to cope. Not a single short corner!
Regroup and move on.

we didnt get outwitted at all........with the injuries and absennces we had their game plan was simple.....stop silva getting the ball....thats hardly genius tactics.

they cheated for the first goal and after that we were always going to be vulnerable and yet it took a set piece and a lapse of concentration by fernando for them to get a second

stop believing the media hype - we werent very good today but arsenal were bang average as well

A result that's been coming in all honesty. We've got one way of playing going forward, and there are aspects of our game that hinder us from adjusting effectively when the opposition parks the bus to thwart that preferred way of attacking. Add in the same old flaws defensively and a decent side was always gonna have us over on the counterattack eventually. Burnley, Chelsea and Sunderland nearly managed it, and Stoke and Arsenal have. Park the bus, crowd Silva out and take your chances on the break.

What frustrates is seeing the same flaws again and again. I've lost count of the number of times a whipped inswinging cross or free kick has caused mayhem in our box, our defenders standing still as forwards run in behind them unchallenged. Three Everton players could have scored their equaliser last week, three Arsenal players could have scored their second goal today. It happens again and again and again.
And going forward, if you can't get behind a team through the middle, cos they're packing numbers narrow and deep, then you have to try and go wide, but whereas Chelsea, United, Arsenal and virtually everyone else have got players who can whip dangerous crosses in, we've got Navas. Cross after cross after cross belted straight into the ankles of defenders standing barely more than 12 inches away.
As for corners, we might as well just say "no thanks, we don't want one". 144 since we last scored from one, and of that 144 we've probably got a head to no more than about 6. Another 18 today, and only on the 18th did we finally pick out a City player. One gormless outswinger after another, headed clear at the near post, and when we do try the odd inswinger we put no-one in front of the keeper to stop them coming out and claiming it.

I'm sure there will be plenty of people writing us off for the title, and whilst I think we will fare better on the counter at Chelsea, it's hard to see them fucking up. We now need them to lose twice in the last 16 games, whilst winning all of our own, and with away trips to Chavski, Spurs, the rags, Swansea and Liverpool still to come, that looks a tall order. Bony and Toure's return will help, but if we lose at Chelsea I think that return will be academic. It's not the losing that hurts, it's our predictability and lack of options as soon as a couple of our better players are out injured. We saw it in the cup games against Newcastle and Wednesday, we saw it when Toure was left out against Burnley, and we saw it in spades today

S**t day but these things happen. I'm going to save every headline printed tomorrow and already got a load from pundits on Twitter who are crowning Chelsea as champions.

Long way to go yet and our last two title wins prove that we don't give up easily.

F*****g hell!!
30 minute wankfest as Arsenal park the bus and nick two goals to beat City who were a bit bow par today.
No surprises Sky....

from almost going top few weeks ago to 5 points behind the leader real quick!! Seriously though, That was our poorest performance at the etihad in as far as I can remember. Our defending is so poor it's shocking I think we've conceded the same kind of goal as todays thrice in the last few games(today,Everton,Burnley),Demi set up Arsenal counters thrice.
Only players that can leave the etihad today shameless are Clichy and Fernandinho who really put in a shift..still wondering why the latter came off, shocking decision by the manager.
That said, we can go back with in two points of the Chelsea on 31st but what's worrying is how many points we've dropped at the etihad this season considering we dropped less in past two title winning seasons and still didn't win the trophy by many points.CTID

Pellegrini never learns at all. Fernando is like a statue, how he stays on regularly instead of ferandiniho is just poor management. Navas is useless. he didn't fancy him last year yet now when other teams have strengthened he thinks he's the answer. Burnley and Sunderland rang the alarm bells yet out we go and walk into the same trap only against more talented attackers. Never mind the media wankfest over how brilliant arsenal were, the next few weeks will show how inaccurate that is. we have a fortnight to prepare for the chavs yet out we'll go again with the usual naivety and get picked off on the break. Let's surprise them and go route one!

I am not blaming Navas for costing us the game but he is nowhere near good enough for where we are and where we want to be.

Europa League player.

Milner wasn't much better,

Everyone was average today, but Navas has been poor for ages now.

In fact I don't think he has played poorly, I just think his level is nowhere near the level we expect a City player to be now.

He was poor today but If we got a physical presence (target man) in our attacks then you would see a different Navas imo.
