City v Chelsea Post Match Thread

Chelsea deserve the superlatives tonight. Totally bossed the game, were still pressing us high up the pitch in the final minutes and were it not for the woodwork we would have been ruined.

I don't buy into mind game rubbish though. Mourinho has behaved like an utter bell in the press this week and I don't think that played any part in tonight's game. Tactically though, he got it spot on and for the first time since he has been back in England his team actually played like his reputation is supposed to bring.

Fernandinho was a huge miss for us tonight. It played into their tactics perfectly as there were huge space in our midfield. His importance to us is huge and our style, but even with him in the side the way Chelsea harried tonight we would have been in for a tough game.

Said in the pre match thread playing a 2 man midfield with Yaya and MDM in the absence of Fernandinho was suicidal and so it proved.

Anyone who understands the game knows that will get absolutely bummed by a Chelsea 5 man midfield with bags of pace.

A truly bizarre selection especially when Milner would've thrived in such a battle.

If anything it shows our severe lack of depth in central midfield and probably signals the end for Rodwell if he cant get a game under such circumstances.

We would've 'gotten away with' the selection v a lower table team but Chlcsea are a damn fine side and were clearly going to expose it all night long.

Also really missed Nasri's retention. movement and vision and Aguero's all round brilliance.

I've also said many a time, to much derision, that Fernandinho is our best and most integral player. I rest my case after tonight.

Anyway, despite those cunts beating us twice we're still above them. We move on, get our focused heads back on, and keep doing what we're doing.

Hope Pelle has learnt something for the FA cup game. Hopefully Ferna will be back though by then.
Has Pelle caught Jimbo shagging his wife or something because poor Milner cant buy a minute on the pitch, even with Nasri, Ferna out injured.

I can't be too down, so what? They won and we carry on. We weren't disgraced but we weren't our fluid cohesive selves and I can only give credit to Chelsea, they played well and I think losing fernandinho was a huge blow. They are still behind us and I really think this will spur us on. Pelle will learn from this and move forward, and so will the team. 3 points in the next league game and everything's rosy. We won't slip up many more times this season.

when are ppl going to understand he is worthless
mystifies me mate....people covering for him because he scores a few....full strength team you could put a pair of boots on a lampost and it would score as many as Dzeko
Uncalled for. Give him credit at least for being in the position to shoot. He had a poor game shooting but it is horrible how he is your favorite scapegoat.
he was woeful tonight, simples, im sure hes a secret rugby player as more often than not its wayyy over the bar as per usual

Absolutely furious with Pellegrini tonight ... starting with two up front with Demichelis in CM was absolute stupidity against an athletic, motivated Chelsea midfield and we got exactly what we deserved - Really don't give a sh*t about footballing philosophies today it was needs must when Fernandinho got injured .... This is why Mourinho wins titles, Wenger sticks to his philosophy to the point of lunacy and hasn't won anything for 8 years.

Extra man needed in midfield today without Fenrnadinho - where was Milner, we needed someone who get around the pitch???

Pellgrini totally out though because of his stubborn insistence on playing 'his way' even when we clearly didn't have the legs in CM with Demichelis

Pellegrini seems to have his favorties

Kolarov - Favorite good going forward, exposed today - I would have preferred Clichy's pace

Demichelis - Favorite, not good enough for us in CB or CM (especially in a 2 man midfield)

Milner - Not a favorite, surely was fit enough to play half a game he was on the bench ...

Pellers didnt get it wrong. Mourinho got it right.

Their defense was well organized, not even sure if Kun would be able to unlock it. I guess the lowest goal conceded is not for nothing.

Not the end of the world.
