City v Everton Post Match Thread

I would be very interested to see Milner in the holding role with Fernandinho and Yaya allowed to show a bit more attacking wise, always get a little stuck on who to drop though, hence the reason I am on here and not managing City!!!

Have been saying this for last few games, Yaya is the presence we need further forward and Milner is the grafter we need in the centre.

Re- the back pass. I didn't have the best view but didn't the ball clip a city player on the way back to the keeper? If so does this still count as a back pass like a deflected through ball counts as coming from the passer for offside.

Should have had a corner in 1st half after deflection from Aguero shot/pass.

I don't think this high line suits Kompany. I think he prefers more of a man to man tussle with less room behind him.
Fernandinho is coming along slowly and still adjusting to the rigours of the premier league. Any missed challenges and the space behind him is more open with the defence high and the fullbacks up. Covers Yaya's lack of mobility. Prone to getting caught in possession, which is what we, the crowd notice.

Why the 'not blaming Joe but he could have done better with their goal' type comments. It would have been a world class save if he could have got it, because he didn't doesn't alter the fact that Lukaku took his chance extremely well.

Good to see Dave still running around like a spring lamb after 80 mins. Did he get cramp just after that or was he fouled? Correct decision to play him for a short time in the Bayern game to see if there was any reaction to his injury. Yes I know we needed him earlier but his fitness is more important.

Was straight behind Zaba's run for penalty. Seemed to be a bit more than just a bit of contact. Can't comment on the one Nasty didn't give away, the ref seemed to have a good view of it though.

If you think Yaya is a/the problem, just think how you'd feel if he was on the opponent's team-sheet.
Most clubs would take him first from our squad. The guy is a killer, but sometime doesn't have the greatest effect on the eye. Two assists today and he's attracting flak? Didn't score a free kick = sell him? Get some patience, will you, this a remarkable football player and we are lucky to have him. Ask the scum.

Agree. We expect too much of him, we expect him to be charging forward, setting up and scoring goals and in the next minute, charging back to make goal saving tackles...we don't demand the same of Fernandinho and seem happy with his defensive work. Clearly, his best work is upfront and thus we should be accommodating that by having another grafter in midfield to fill in after Ya Ya has been up front on a run.

Read some shit on here, Yaya's the problem, His control of the ball, holding off players, using both feet one touch left foot and pass with the right or one touch right foot and pass with the left. Those little circles he turns in where he's holding two players off before releasing the ball. The bust gutting runs he does. The free kicks. The tap ins , the curlers the presence in the middle or just simply around the club, the games without resting, the sheer strength of the man, he's a fucking monster of a player and I could go on. He's one of the best all time City midfielders and time may prove him to be the best of them all.

Great three points ......

and we picked up more bookings than One Direction !

You got over this then:

"Kompany , injured yet again for the umpteenth time , is a waste of time , and would be better advised to take up something less strenuous , such as knitting , instead."

All of this. I've seen Colin Bell and this fella is up there with the best ever.

Fantastic! The missus and her Dad are Everton fans. The twat (her Dad) normally insists on phoning me when those horrible fuckers get a result against us. Not heard a peep form him.

Was saying before during and after the game how I despise these horrible cnuts, they have a massive chip on there shoulder and it's never banter with them it's proper malicious shite.

Never get it with dipperpool always with these.

First bits of the game seemed a bit iffy, but after Everton scored, I thought we took more control, not complete control, just more. But after the break, we were superb. Passing was fluid, movement was good and we seemed solid at the back despite the changes we had to deal with throughout the game. Negredo showed everything about himself that is good. Foot work is good for a big man, chases down everything, wins header after header and sticks the ball away for fun. Silva was a miss for us recently, and today he showed he is what we need to carve out chances from open play. He has the eye to unlock the defence and we miss that at times. Defensively I think he causes problems a bit cause he does drift and doesn't really defend the left hand side, but to be fair to him, if he drifts, someone in the middle should fill in. Overall a good performance, now just for the away win as our home form seems sorted.
