City v Everton Post Match Thread

As for today I must admit I was biting my nails towards the end but Everton didn't put us under enough pressure to deserve anything. Thought we created some decent chances especially the Pozo 1 and the 1 where Nasri should have hit it 1st time. In the end we thank Joe Hart for yet another superb save which is just as important as a goal at the other end. The fight and graft from the boys was top notch and I'd put the win down as a Champions win.

Now we move on to Roma after a tough 6 days which has seen us travel to Southampton all the way across the country to Sunderland and then back for a Saturday tea time kick off against Everton with all 3 being our bogey sides but we accumulated 9 points 8 goals for and 1 against no bad eh?

Champions that's all.

Ref was bad for both teams, Mangala and Barry were both lucky to be on the field.

Penalty ... yes. Don't get this "soft" bullshit. if there's contact, its a pen, if there is no contact and its a dive, no penalty. Jagielka only had to shephard Milner away from the goal, his cock-up for trying to win a challenge in the box.

Martinez is starting to sounds like a whingy, old hombre.

No idea what Mangala was doing at the corner. maybe its a French thing .... Mad Eric would have been proud?!

not a classic by any stretch, but these games you have to win too.

bit concerned with the striker situation for Roma now. hoping Jovetic isnt that bad of an injury (dunno what injury he has) cos Dzeko wont be able to play 90 minutes if he could only play 30 minutes today. and ideally we need to score 2 goals and not lose, right? fingers are crossed.

It was precautionary ahead of Roma, a minor problem.
Hamstring injury according to Pellegrini but sounds like he has not been ruled out

Watched MOTD. Thought it was a pen on Milner

Stupid challenge by Jagielka, and his momentum took milner's legs. It's a foul even if soft

There can be contact and it not be a foul. I honestly don't think that was a penalty today. Jagielka didn't foul him, he did touch him, but it wasn't a foul. It's one of them where I'd be livid if that was given against us.

But I'll take it all day because how many penalties should we have been given this season that were nailed on pens? It's about seven I think. And we've only had the Lampard v Spurs and today's one that have been fortunate to have been given for us.

job done , not a footballing feast , surprised at martinez whining about the ref ,he should concentrate on his pathetic ineffectual team , we had kompany, silva, aguero, fernandinho, dzeko, jovetic, kolarov either rested due to european competition or injury , and we controlled the game . The penalty was down to the stupidity of jagielka and if demichelis or mangala had made the same challenge they would have been hung out to dry , its was a must needed 3 pts , chelski can now hand the title back until May , and we can now prove we are not a one man team by stuffing Roma.

A good gritty victory where everyone put a shift in and in particular Milner, Ya Ya Clichy, Nasri and Zabba, Navas worked hard too. Gutted about Sergio it looked a nothing challenge if we could keep him fit for a bloody season for once we would cruise this league.

Having seen the Mangala and Fernando challenges again they were reckless and stupid in the extreme and another ref could easily have given a red card for both. The penalty might have been soft and a lot of refs would have bottled it but Milner was shoved over, soft yes but still a foul and a pen.

A fantastic two weeks aside from Sergio's injury.

I'm fairly certain that any score draw would do as long as CSKA lose to Bayern. So 1-1 would be see us go through. Hopefully we stuff them and score a bagful on our Roman holiday.
