City v Everton post match

Pep tries Sane' partnered with DB at the right and Sterling partnered with Silva at the left before swap around the position. I think Silva at the left and KDB at the right is the way to get the most of them. Both Sane' and Sterling are not effective as left wing. Nolito is good but still not good enough. I am waiting for Gabriel to try on left wing. If I have to choose between Sterling and Sane' as right wing, I prefer Sane' because he has more dimension. Sterling only do one thing trying to take on. Just my opinion.

I think we really need to see this a season of transformation. That way nobody is going to be disappointed. We had an ageing side with a poor season behind them. Pep has already started rebuilding with great younger players. Personally I think Pep has been surprised at the re-building work he needs to do. We all know the full backs need replacing, a new central defender and possibly a new striker over the next couple of windows. Pep's style will take a while to implement completely. Watch us next season and you will see the difference, although the football we are playing now is great to watch. I think expectations are too high for this season, let's give Pep the time to build his team and just accept this season may be a transformation period. The future is exciting and next season is going to be something special. In the meantime let's enjoy the football and how this team will continue to play. Anything we can win this year is a bonus.

One thing I think is fair to criticise today other than the penalties, were the corners. I feel this is an area we need more variety in, constant out-swinging corners to no one in particular just aren't providing us with anything - and if anything provide counter attacking opportunities as the ball naturally swings out of their box.

We had 13 corners today & not once did we get even close to creating a chance from them, add some in-swingers and come more creative ones, we don't have a large team so whipping out-swingers in to a fairly sizable team like Everton just plays into their hands.

I didn't go today. After the game, I thought I would read this thread to find out what happened. Thus far, I have established:

We were all over them but they controlled the game.

We created nothing but we should have scored plenty.

Sane played well but he did nothing.

Silva and De Bruyne, our creative players, were very good but they created little.
Lol

Very good point,we should take them short sometimes unless vinny is playing then aim for his head

Yup, some short, some training ground routines, some in-swinging (particularly De Bruyne as his deliveries will be far harder to collect than Silva's floatier deliveries). Just a bit of variety. Felt we got in a rut with Pellegrini's out-swingers to the near post & hoping for a flick on, and feel similarly we're in a bit of a rut with deeper out-swingers under Pep.

No qualms with this being Pep's favoured corner & being say 75% of our corners, but a bit of variety every now & then can't do any worse than we seem to be at the moment from corners.

Happy to watch us play that way week in week out. But for their gk that would have been an easy win.

Where do some of these clueless fans come from!
If this forum was around in 97/98 then they would have something to moan about ffs!
