City v Everton post match

Last 2 seasons we've morphed into Arsenal and the signs are appearing again. Completely dominate but have a soft under belly and weak mentality. Confident Pep will sort it.

I'm one of the first to question the players' mentality but when the players rescue the game despite conceding against the run of play and missing two penalties, I'd say the collective mentality was pretty good yesterday.

I thought that Gael C was superb and easily our MOTM.I accept he got skinned by Lukaku but how many defenders have.Quality finish but what about that goalkeeping display .. truly amazing especially that save from KDB.From the CBL3 stand it looked all the way in.Why the fuck don`t we shoot more often instead of playing too much tippy tappy in and around the box.Ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.Other than the result I thought we played well enough to have won,but just one of those bad days at the office.

I thought Clichy had a good game too but can't agree that he was easily MotM. Silva was not unreasonably awarded it - he played some lovely stuff and won a pen and assisted on our goal. I also thought Gundogan, our most invovled player, along with Dinho, had a very good game.

It gets criminally overlooked this. Like Bravo with his debut, cae out second half and still went for it and matches after. That takes a lot of mental resilience to be that confident after a mistake. Same for the team as a whole yesterday and against Celtic, we showed great mental strength. That is because imo the players trust Pep implicitly and if Pep shrugs a result of, they will, not with complacency i may add, they just trust him totally and rightly so history shows.

Can't believe some of the negative comments on here - we played some fantastic football yesterday against a well drilled team with good players and still created a good amount of chances to have won.
You're gonna get days like this but to question the performance or mentality of the players as some have is baffling. All I see is a team that is only going to get better with time and I for one am fully enjoying the ride.
Too many slapped arse "Fans" who are now thinking that we have a Devine right to win games - get a grip, be disappointed we didn't win but don't question the effort, desire, mentality and that performance.
And relax.....

Can`t argue with some of the players you mention but I thought Clichy intercepted balls time and time again, moved forward and was instrumental in many good things going forward.I just tend to think that certain players get overlooked when it comes to MOTM performances and for want of a better phrase "the usual suspects" tend to get it.
Its all about fans perception and everyones interpretation of performances but at the end of the day we played more than well enough to have won, just one of those days had we got it right then we could easily have won by 3/4/5 goals.

This sums up yesterday really. And despite Everton hitting us with a sucker punch we still had the bollocks to get back up and score.

Can't legislate for our two best players missing penalties in the same game, we just have to accept their keeper did his job brilliantly, it'll happen sometimes.

We'll probably lose at Barca midweek too, and the rag media will be all over four games without a win. But really, it's just a blip and we're still top with the world's best manager and probably the best squad in the league and almost an entire season to play.

I thought we played very well, but something is wrong right now with that team. Gundogan needs time to bed in and looks individually good, but we definitely look a better team with Silva in a deeper role next to Fernandinho rather than Gundogan.

Sane looked absolutely excellent yesterday and I thought taking him off was a mistake, unless Pep is saving him for Barca.

We are playing some incredible football but it's clearly not the finished article yet.

And Clichy should hang his head in shame over the way Lukaku had his way with him. That was an embarrassing attempt to cover. It's high time we play Angelino & Maffeo and see how they fare, because it cant be any worse than our current full back performances.

I had you down as more knowledgeable than this... What's wrong with team then?
