CITY v Liverpool: Post Match Discussion

The best thing about today was that is the best Liverpool will play all season, and they still couldn't score a legitimate goal. They'll continue to fuck up against teams they shouldn't, we won't, and the final table won't lie :)

The ref's got it completely wrong for Balotelli's sending off.

If he's deemed it an intentional elbow (which it wasn't), it's a red card for violent conduct.
If not, it can't be anything more than possibly a foul if he's impeded player (which he didn't again). I'd be interested to see what he puts it as in his report.

He definitely had it in for Mario though.

Definitely agree with this. Balo was just trying to get his body between their defende and the ball, nothing more. It was barely a foul in my view, let alone a yellow. And bearing in mind a yellow would mean red, the ref did us no favours. Normally refs take a more sensible view. Balo only committed 2 fouls and finds himself having an early bath.
just goes to prove that Atkinson is educationally subnormal - sorry a thick bastard who has no or very little brain

Hart was awesome today so I hold my hands up and admit I was first to criticise him for his parrying.

Thought the whole team looked tired today.

Yaya - Still an enigma for me....Just looks fucked permanently.

Fantastic point which could easily have been nil if it wasnt for Joe but could have been 3 if Silva had finished the last minute chance.

Liverpool are a dirty cheating bunch of cunts and Atkinson got sucked in. Suarez when fairly tackled goes down like hes been poleaxed. Great to be 5 pts clear and another tough game out of the way. Norwich at home next Saturday. Jeez 2 draws 11 wins...still in dream land.

How many games will he get Mario? and will Tuesday count

I know what you mean regarding Yaya, but when you watch closely he is one awesome footballer, his gallops terrify every fucker, although not in abundance today. Very, very good point today, I have watched this team for many a year and I have a sneaking feeling this is the best one yet.

Not a bad result all things considered but what is going on the last few games with players unable to keep their feet ?? Noticed it in the Napoli game as well, heart in mouth stuff every time a player tries to turn and struggles to stay on his feet ?? Vinny doing it a lot and also Milner, YaYa and Silva.....is it their footwear or the pitches ? They look a yard slower than normal as they struggle to get a foothold and this is why i think we have looked slow and struggled a bit last 2 games. They don't look confident when trying the usual slick pass and move stuff we are used to seeing. Can anyone else see this ?

Oh I agree mate. Yaya is a monster but there is no inbetween. He tracked back once today to win the ball, ran about 50 yards at full tilt...Otherwise he didn't track. On his day he is unplayable but when he is off he is off. Not just him today, but anyway I am still chuffed with a point

Agreed, he was off today but he never gets dropped, for obvious reasons. Iffy day today but one of our best ever signings IMO.

You know that you've had a good away day when you're once illustrious opposition celebrates like they've just won a major cup game even though they didn't win

Today was good practice. Teams having been coming to our place beaten before they kicked off. Against Newcastle, we won the game in second gear. The tempo was far too slow and that was no good for anyone.

A lot of men stood up today and matched Liverpool's work rate.

Mancini got it right with the team sheet but didn't respond well to the game once it had begun. Balotelli was not the player for a game like this, and Silva should have played on the right to get Micah in more (who wasn't as good as he normally is). He stuck with Milner who done well defending Enrique but a little more adventure and we would have, I feel, created a lot more chances.

Also, Aguero made plenty of wrong decisions which affected us, but overall, there's a lot of positives to take from this. Yaya and Barry done plenty and controlled the midfield for large parts.

Surely Balotelli was brought on just because Aguero did not have enough edge (was making the wrong decisisons) up front .

Maybe I am just a fan boy...But Adam Johnson's ability to put the ball on a frozen rope is missed... a long range threat is the only way to open the defense up and allow Ballo, Dzeko and Kun to shine. I would love to see him get some real minutes as soon as possible.
