City v Liverpool Post Match

As a Liverpool fan, i thought i'd stick my head round the door and congratulate you guys on a good win. I didn't manage to catch all of the game but from what i saw it looked like a cracking game. Well done.

If anyone here was at the game, can you tell me how our fans behaved.

Cheers.

I saw the "I don't believe it" scouser on the way out of ground. How his head is that shape when the rest of his body is relatively thin is clearly medical.

Good performance tonight. I thought the first half was pretty even, though as soon as the fist goal went in, it was game over, as the Scousers never looked like threatening a comeback.

Both Jovetić and Fernando were my outstanding players in the first half, and they carried it on right to the end, well until the 80th minute in Stevan's case. Clichy and both centre-backs were superb too, but that's not to say there weren't other great performances, as there were.

Jovetić's goals rightly earned him MotM, but I believe, based on his first two games, Nando will prove to be a fantastic signing. He was everywhere and I noticed that if Vinnie roamed forward, he would drop back to cover at CB. He is an upgrade on both NdJ and Javi. He's like Nigel with pace and will stop a lot of opposition attacks.

Jovetić IS like a new signing and will take a lot of pressure off Sergio's shoulders, and with Beast being out injured and Kun slowly returning to full fitness, it's great that he's started the season so well.

Džeko seems to have been working on trapping and controlling the ball; he was much better tonigh than I ever remember him before in those departments. YaYa had a quiet first-half, but came into his own much more after the break and dominated the mourners' midfield.

Such a dominant performance against the team that won the title in April will send out an ominous message to every team in the League, and I doubt as many people have Chelsea as their favourites now.

The lad is amazing. Kompany must be loving having him in front of the back 4, there were several times that the commentators over here got Nando mixed up with Vinnie as he was right in there doing the dirty work after Vinnie had pushed on and been caught out.

Love him.

Just got in, you know match pub Lock in

But to be honest I can't believe Fernando has only been here since the summer, he has settled in so well he looks like he has been here a couple of seasons.
The best thing is that when he gets to know the league and his team mates he will get better.

His covering and his love of defending in front and behind the back four could be
Our master stroke, a midfielder who actually loves defending

I thought the job Jovetic and Dzeko (and Aguero) did on Gerrard was one of the key things tonight. Eveytime Gerrard drop back to get the ball one of our strikers was constantly on him. It meant that most of their first half possession was the slippy one passing to one of their centre backs rather than long diagonal balls in behind us. Defending from the front at its best.

Not at our best but a good win all the same against a title rival. Jovetic is showing he's the player I knew he would be once fully fit and up to speed and he properly deserved his MOTM award.

What pleased me most about our performance was that it was measured and controlled and we did just what we needed to do to secure the points without being reckless as we were sometimes last season. We evolved during the last 5 matches of last season and continued that evolution into this season and look more dangerous for it.

I just can't wait until we're all match fit and on form.....

Didn't notice anything bad TBH, quite vocal at the start, but a bit quiet when they knew U were beat, but plenty of coppers outside so wouldn't of thought any prob's outside either! Much better than the old days! Thanks for the congrats, I think U'll do OK this season, top 3, above UTD, that's the main thing.

Contained a Liverpool team that usually comes out the box quickly and imposes their game on the opposition. Never felt like they had the upper hand, even though we have them a few more sniffs than I would like. However, let's not forget they were OME WIN away from being Champions last season. On tonight's display, I don't know anyone who could think that.....and we didn't get out of third gear.

On e the team starts ticking over and the new squad gets in sync, it is scary what COULD happen.

Full backs did yeoman's work getting up and down the pitch, Fernando is proving to be an excellent "plug" in the middle, although he will obviously get banned at least twice this season (5 & 10 yellows) and probably sent off that many times, too. Nasri was everywhere, even if his last ball was a bit too intricate. Dzeko is a new man under Pelle and is both more mobile and more controlled, while also putting in a shift tracking back. With him, Jovetic and Aguero, we have a fearsome threesome. Throw in Negredo in a month or two and we should have zero problems score ing another hatful.

6 out of 6, 5 points ahead of the Rags already.....Dream start! Now, let's hope Skrtel's studs down Dzeko's thigh is just bruising and he is fit for the weekend, although it might be time to start Sergio and give him 60 minutes and rest Edin for an hour.

Throw in Sagna, Kolarov, Navas, Milner and Aguero for Stoke and give Zaba, Clichy, Silva, Nasri and Dzeko a breather for an hour then inject what we might be missing during the second half. Sorted and rotated nicely!

The future is Blue if this is third gear!!

I don't get to watch/listen to the pundits, just the match day commentators on the feed that I subscribe to here in NZ. Last night Beagre commented that "Mancini will need much more in the second half". Dickhead.
