City v Liverpool Post Match

Can we agree what gear the team is currently playing in?

I have seen some people say we never gout out of first gear, some saying second & some saying third?

How many gears are there & what is top gear?
Well we're in a Lamborghini so it'll have seven gears won't it? I'd say we got to about third.

I've just watched the full 90minutes back.

Rodgers is having a laugh if he thinks Liverpool bossed the game for the first 40mins. Liverpool had three good spells in the game: from around 23-39minutes they were on top, and their best two spells were in the second half from 45-48mins and then from 81-85mins. Those two short spells in the second half was when they were most threatening but they were very short spells. The longer first half spell was more of a dictation if play and possession.

The first twenty minutes were even, the rest of the game we bossed, quite convincingly!

I don't know if I was watching a different game last night, but I thought Demichelis had an unbelievable performance. The amount of interceptions he made, added to the fact Clichy wasn't at his best - he was the best defender in the side yesterday and I don't understand the abuse he gets on here.

I was honestly watching the game yesterday thinking, 'how on earth is Mangala gonna get in this team'!

I was very disappointed with the Liverpudlians last night, the only song I remember them singing was the "we saw you crying when we sent you down" very amusing that, up there with Ken Dodd's diddymen I thought.

I'm surprised they can even remember that far back.

I thought this turned out to be a very straightforward win. At the beginning we were happy to let them have the ball in non threatening areas and then snuff them out when they tried to advance. Clinical movement and finishing when required and job done. The whole team played very well as a unit and yes there will be individual errors from time to time but that was overall a very satisfying performance.

Agreed

Said to mate sat next to me last night that I don't know how Mangala will get in the team at the moment

Surprised about the MDM discussion, for me he had a very good game. Made many good interceptions last night?

Neville gave a nice little analysis of how organised our back four were, if anyone saw it.

It's an evolutionary thing, sometimes you don't quite see it, because you are constantly looking at it.

This current City team/squad reminds me so much of the first Chelsea team under Mourinho, but with so much more poise and flair.

We can kill teams with silk or steel, the end result is just the same.

We were too light in the middle for the first half hour but maybe that was the plan, Liverpool always try to shoot their bolt in the first half hour and then it was just a case of flicking a gear for us.

The scary thing for me is that there will be no downgrade in performance should Mangala, Lampard, Sagna, Negredo, Navas or Kolarov need to come in.

Fernandinho is still a key starter for me alongside Fernando, but if we can get maximum points from this early fixture list, the opposition will be impacted in a big way.

Must just be a block 307 thing, at least half a dozen of us sat near each other thought him below par last night, very poor with possession?

As for the previous poster, can;t see anybody abusing MDM, just offering personal opinions of his game.
