City v Napoli Post Match Discussion Thread

mate says Mancini said that a draw tonight is a good result?

Mancini knows there are no Red Bull Salzburg's in this group, right?

"We lost a stupid ball for the goal and Napoli were very dangerous on the counter attack. We know the Champions League is difficult but we started well and now we must win in Munich in our next game."

Does that sound happy?

Right formation wrong players.

Cant fault the formation. Tonight the players used was wrong the 2 fullbacks Zab and Kolarov were poor tonight. Nice goal by Kolarov mind. Should of started Richards and Clichy as the fullbacks tonight would of been more of a force.

Also Kun it didnt work for him all match long in my view he should have been pulled from the team for Tevez. Dzeko can feel a bit unlucky to be taken off for Tevez. It seemed we wanted to over play the ball at times. Johnson done well when he came on.

Barry for there goal was shocking. I dont know what the fuck he was trying to do but his mistake was needless at the time. We need to cut out stupid mistakes like that in the Champions League. Kompanys goal line clearence was fucking top notch great defending from Vinny. We had enough chances to win that game I just hope that this game doesnt cost us in the group we will need to win our remaining 2 home games and get a result in Spain to get out of this group.

It might not but he said he was in the post match interview.

Overall not a bad result though after that poor 2nd half.

can't believe some pops at vk and jl, the problem was barry and toure, too eager to get forward, left runners straight in at those two again and again

we need to learn quick, experience counts for so much in this comp

kompany was ok (thanks for the goalline clearance)!!!! but would have to say that was his worst game,he will be back to normal by the weekend though.

I'll be first one to say that Napoli's manager got the best of us, really.

Mancini failed to recognize that they've come prepared to defend that last pass around/in front of the box. I said it at the end of first half - we will not get through the middle.

So - what do we do in the 2nd? We keep trying to the middle, and keep failing.
After a while, you could just see that our players have no clue what to do with the ball offensively.

And it's not even only Mancini, I am shocked that players themselves, especially guys like Silva and Nasri do not see the cork in the middle of the field - but just keep pushing on and on...giving away countless possesions.

I mean - God forbid we string three, fuck TWO crosses in a row!!!

Furthermore - I cant remember the last time I saw a long ball played forwardby one of our players. Honestly.

Its like we think at this level any team will just let you pass around endlessly all the way the box and set up a perfect strike?? Barcelona cant even do that- and they are number 1 team in passing (probably in history).

FFS try to skip some pitch with a long ball every now and then, it cant be worse than tapping around the center.

Mancini got it wrong. Richards and Clichy over Kolarov and Zabaleta. I don't think any of them had a bad game, it just wasn't right. Typically tactically astute Italian defensive tactics meant it was necessary to get as many players forward as possible.

Also, with Clichy on the left, Silva can drift inside and become more involved.

Ratings:

Hart - 6

Zabaleta - 7
Kompany - 7 - made plenty of mistakes, but his all round play redeems him.
Lescott - 7 - Outpaced for the goal but otherwise done well
Kolarov - 7

Barry - 8 - Had a good game apart from his fault in the goal
Yaya - 8.5 MoM

Nasri - 6.5
Silva - 7.5 Quiet but was still good

Aguero - 6
Dzeko - 7

Realy realy realy missed NDJ tonight, real learning curve that was and they wont be no push over with there front 3.
