All these people who want owners to appreciate the fans, please tell me exactly what you want, because I assume world class footballers, world class facilities and competing at the top of the game is obviously not enough?
What is it?
Cheap tickets - how cheap? £20, £10, free (why not if ticket income is so notional in the whole scheme of things?)
Cheap beer and food? How cheap?
Scrap City Square because it's just a money making wheeze?
Fuck investment in new infrastructure and corporate facilities which raise money for the club because they're just corporate bullshit?
Move to a smaller stadium so that every seat is occupied?
Have their own personal chaperone to pick you up from home/work to bring you to and from the match?
What is it?
I have had a season ticket for 33 years now, and not once have I been forced to buy it. I buy it because I want to. In all that time my God have I and other fellow blues had to suffer - the Swales era, successive relegations, turning up at home matches knowing you were going to lose, visiting dumps in far flung places, hooliganism, no goals at home for half a season, etc etc. Don't get me wrong in between the crushing lows there were some magnificent highs - Colin Bell in his pomp, Gillingham, Blackburn away - but these have been few and far between. But none of these compare to the highs of the semi-final win over the Rags, winning a trophy after 35 years, the Aguero moment, Yaya and Nasri at Wembley, pipping the scousers to the league, the recent cup win, seeing Messi play at the Etihad, Sergios hat trick against Bayern, and many more. And I'm hungry for more. Forgive me for being forever grateful to the owners for that. Kill me!
