I am unsure about the viewpoint of the other members here, but I for one is struggling to comprehend the fascination that many of you share about deploying a 3-5-2 formation.
This has been adopted throughout the trials as a plan B to accommodate for different teams in Europe. If we utilise such a formation against Southampton it will signal to me that we are not 100% committed to our offensive dominance. Because as we all know, it inevitably becomes a 5 man defense when we.do not contain possession. A 4 man defensive wall is more than sound at negating opposition attacks, but allows an extra creative body higher up the pitch. This is surely needed against a Saints outfit destined to defend deep.
Furthermore, I would be more upbeat as a Southampton player if I see a 3-5-2, I would feel better about getting a result.
Mancini, if your secretly scrolling through the forums, please pause and listen to my opinion. I would feel disheartened if we eliminate potential goal difference before kickoff...
