City v Stoke Post Match Thread

A few tired players out there today.
Just like the Barca game we had 10 men against their 12 - Edin their third centre back.

It was tense but I thought we totally dominated the game. I remember Hart making one good save and that was it

Dzeko and Negredo especially very disappointing.

Silva was good, apart from his shooting. Yaya got MoM but Nasri for me was once again our best player. I don't think he can be fully fit yet after his knee injury, but I don't think there's a better midfielder in the Premiership at the moment.

oh edin.

what's going on son?

we need you back.

and beast. what's happening?

we need you back.

and Jovy. what now tiger?

we need something please.

kun. please come back.

I've not had time to read all the pages but Nasri and Silva were my Men of the Match today. However Hughes' teams are still playing the most negative football ever! If I ever want a bus in Stoke I know where to find one, in the opposition team's half of the pitch! And they sure must have a lot of swimming pools for them to practice their diving!

BUT the thing that really, really incensed me was when they stopped for someone's 'injury' and Charlie Adam got a bottle of water and then ran back on to the pitch drinking from it and then threw the bottle toward Manuel Pellegrini!! It didn't miss him by much either but that is totally disrespectful in my opinion. Granted he may not have been throwing it AT MP but he knew that he was there and should have thrown it toward the touch line further down the pitch. Horrible team, horrible manager and I hope they go down. Very rarely want a specific team to go down (except YKW!) but they deserve it.

Why will Silva not shoot ffs ?

It wasn't pretty but we kept plugging away and got the three points which given the other results was all that mattered.

Excellent performance from Nasri today and good games from Kolorov and Yaya and Silva.

Hughes felt Stoke were unfairly prevented from testing Hart more often and said: "There were a couple of occasions where I thought - call it professional or cynical - we had good opportunities that were stopped because of my players getting taken out.

"I thought there was a situation - about three or four - when Stoke City players were taken out quite cynically and (that) stopped good situations.

Glad we showed some steel.

Really hope Poyet doesn't park the bus in the final hoping for a smash and grab goal- we really, really struggle breaking down teams with 10 men behind the ball.

It must be incredibly hard to break down a bank of 5 with another 5 in front. Credit stoke they nearly achieved their goal. I thought we were very determined and we tried everything. It wasn't pretty but you can not deny the efforts from the team. Anyone moaning doesn't appreciate football tactics.

Agree. Did what we have to do against the arch bus parkers after a difficult week.

Anyone except Bayern or Madrid would struggle against that sort of thing, especially when there is no early goal and most of your team forgot their shooting boots.

Glad we showed some steel.

Mark Hughes is right and I too am glad we showed some steel.

Vinny took one for the team as they broke away.
Zabs took one for the team as they threatened to break away.
Dzeko right near the death, took one for the team with a lovely hack at a trailing ankle.

All the above are compensating for the loss of Gareth Barry's fat arse in central midfield which was always used to stunning effect to break up the opposition's play.

Vinnie's foul for the yellow was ridiculous. Fernandiniho took one for the team. Vinne's was a silly challenge.

Glad we showed some steel.

Hughes is a massive ****, and he has a microscopic black hole at the back of his throat, You can by the way his mouth is slowly being sucked into it.
