City v The Rags (merged)

The Cup games in January will hurt us in the League.

The rest of the Premiership will be taking a breather while we have really intense draining games against Utd and Liverpool.

Spot on! terrible draw for us and great for Chelsea!

I disagree, we have the squad to cope

Too much arrogance on here. The Rags have been drawn against us, the holders, in the 3rd round. A team which beat them 6-1 on their own ground.

They don't even need a team talk. Look at the incentive they have - knock out the holders AND get some form of revenge.

Sure but who frightens you in there team? Compared to ours? Saying that is put our 2nd team out against them

Nobody. But we may hit a bad patch, ball won't go in, they fluke a goal. They'll be so up for this game that it won't be easy.

Or have I seen it too many times?

The difference now is we as fans have belief in the squad plus more importantly the players believe they are better and can win any game! But it's cup football and a derby so anything can happen

I agree...if we wish to compete and win trophies then we have to get used to this...its all about how we use the squad.....how they are managed. This is all part of the 'project' and learning...

Thank Christ a bit of faith at last!

I'd play the very worthy team that beat Arsenal away in the 1st leg of the CC. I'd play the usual (rested) squad against the rags (unrested- unless he wants to play his legendary 'Palace' team).
Then I'd play our strongest team in the 2nd leg and a mixture against Wigan away. After that we're back in the normal routine.
I don't think it's arrogant to suggest that we could come through it all successfully.

This is the way it is now - we will meet the top clubs on a regular basis. The only thing to do is to enjoy it, because it's better than nail biters at Oldham and Blackpool etc.

Look at it this way. United and Liverpool both have tough games ahead for them coming up in January.

Could we have had worse draws this year? I wouldn't normally mind it but this whole succession of murderous fixtures + unlucky draws doesn't seem very random. Napoli, Bayern, Liverpool, Arsenal, rags. Random my arse. This is the first real opponent Rags have drawn in any competition.

And right as that fucking ACoN begins.
