City v Wigan Post Match Thread (FA Cup)

I would love this thread to be bumped should we win the Champs League. Impossible I know. However, stranger things have happened...
No bump will be needed pal. Weve thrown the fa cup away for the 2nd time in 2 years against a fucking shit team

for me today Highlighted two things
firstly the Manager got it very very wrong today his team selection was woeful

secondly the second string players a really not good enough MDM clichy lescott Ricards Garcia and Milner all of this lot for me could go and we could easily upgrade all of them for much better players and we will have to if we expect to keep improving as a team

Seriously???

Demichelis is NOT a footballer, he's useless. Forget barca play our strongest side and get past the pie munchers first. First half awful we'd not a clue. Only started playing after nasri scored. Btw WHAT the **** was clichy doing for thier second goal.

Our strongest team should have been played. Why save players for the Champions League-never going to win that but had a chance with the FA Cup. Pelligrini made poor squad choice, ref was a joke and we seem to have lost our ability to score goals-loads of chances. Was it a penalty? Couldn't tell where I was sitting but wouldn't be surprised if it was. Should have played Kompany. Roll on summer transfers-something needs to change and fast...

I must of watched a different game to everyone else.

Despite what BT were trying to force on everyone, I thought we controlled the game and more than deserved a win. Their penalty, yes it was a penalty but it was pretty soft really and that's all that happened in the first half. BT tried to point out that we had no shots in the first half, what they missed was that Wigan didn't have any either. I thought in the first half it was fairly equal in terms of CHANCES with the penalty making the difference but we were not that bad.

The second half goal for them was down to a total cockup by Clichy who went to sleep and it was just generally shite defending from Richards as well who should be doing more to stop the cross coming in. We made loads of chances after that and dominated the game, Wigan were hanging on for half an hour and it was like QPR without the goals, really poor performance offensively though apart from the last 10/15 minutes where I thought we'd at least bring it to 2-2 but well, when Dzeko had that shot which somehow didn't go on, you knew it just wasn't to be.

One thing that worries me a lot is Negredo seems to of completely lost his confidence, he was banging them in before the Chelsea match a while ago but now he just seems shot and doesn't look confident on the ball. Aguero came alive in the last 25 minutes but I don't know, he just doesn't seem fit or he has also lost confidence. Look at our performance against Spurs away and look at Aguero now and something is just amiss, I don't know what. Apart from that, Milner ran his socks off, Silva was sublime and Dzeko put in the most I've seen him put in for some time. Unfortunately it just wasn't enough but I don't think we got done tactically or in effort in anyway, the main thing was the ball sometimes just didn't land for us and that spark of quality wasn't there.

I think this is a blip, call it the warm up for Barcelona, half those players won't play on Wednesday including Demi so it will be a completely different game. If someone asked me if we can come from behind to progress past Barcelona to the Quarter finals of the Champions League at the expense of losing to Wigan in the FA Cup i would take it anyday.

You were indeed watching a different game.

Well done Uwe & Wigan. A deserved victory and good luck for the rest of the season..........

Players.....Richards (no idea), Clichy (bottled at least 2 50/50 tackles), DMD (liability even if playing with Vinney), Lescott (best of a bad bunch at the back), Navas (never in the game and isolated), Yaya (world class but not every game should be better than almost getting a red for moaning), Nasri (tried), Garcia ( back to being poor), kun/Negredo (poor as a unit...kun better when Beast was off), Milner, Dzeko and Silva improved us but that wasn't hard.

Pelli has had chances to get a proper CH. I thought DMD was brought as a third/rotation player that's at best where he should be. Too many games and out of his depth.

If we'd started or proper back four Zab/Kolarov/Komps plus one more we'd have won.

Seems Pelli is putting everything into the CL game. Shame neither him or any other fucker could work out what was needed in Munich. That's where the problems began. Since WHU in the second leg we've been poor as rotation for the barca games has taken over the season.

And breathe. Grrrrrr.

Simple observation, been saying it (almost) all season: Zabba, Komps and Ferna are our KEY players. Yaya, Merlin, Nasri and Kun are the stars but we can play superbly even without one or two of them on the pitch. But never without our steel trio. Agree however with Pelle that they needed a rest today, and we should have been able to score more goals than Wigan anyhow.

Well done Uwe, good to see you today.

all this "wigan deserved it" shit is bollocks,
they were hand the win by our clueless manager and a bent ref. when those two fell short they were lucky as fuck in defence.

Oh dear please tell me what the fuck pellegrini did wrong it was a strong team selection more than capable of beating wigan. Its not his fault that the players had thought we won before a ball was kicked its time the players take responsibility it wasn't pellers who give the penalty away and it wasn't pellers who was ball watching for the 2nd goal yes he picked them players but they should not be preforming like that only garcia and lescott are excused from the starting 11 today its te players fault not the manager's!

denial is a dangerous thing.

pelli is a fucking clown.

Why is Pellegrini getting most of the blame?

The players under Mancini struggled to get themselves up for games against teams they should be beating and it's clearly not changed, so it has to be primarily down to the players.

In my opinion we have too many star players who only want to get themselves up for big games, we saw this last season, a little bit in the title winning season, and again this season.

Too many so called Galacticos if you ask me.
The answer is quite simply, he is the manager. He is the person who chose to play a weakened side in the FA Cup quarter final, in order to rest his side for a dead rubber in the Chumps league. Far too much emphasis on Chumps league lets dominant domestically before we worry about Europe. Pellers totally to blame, poor team selection, esp the defence.
