Manchester City Vs Arsenal
Saturday 14th December 12:45 PM Kick Off
Etihad Stadium
Referee: M. Atkinson‎

Clash of the Titans

There has been a lot of talk about super teams recently. Teams that are better a level above everyone else. Teams that everyone would absolutely avoid playing. Teams such as Bayern Munich. But something strange happened last night, something you don't see very often. Bayern Munich were defeated by a weakened Manchester City side who came from 2-0 down to win the match 3-2. Of course the match was a dead rubber for both as they were both qualified but what City did was nothing short of impressive. But then then an Arsenal team last year achieved the similar feat. Why is all of this relevant? It is because of what it means in terms of aftermath. Arsenal that time went on undefeated for the next few months winning games after games. Similarly Manchester City knows that on their day they can match the elite teams. At home they are far far more devastating compared to away. We saw that against United and Tottenham where they put 9 goals against them. We are probably playing City at the worst of times. Their morale is high, their form is impeccable and their team has gelled incredibly well.

Approach

Arsenal do have the best away form in the league. We don't often lose on the road, in fact we have only lost twice all season if you include last night's result. On the other hand, City have the best home record. It's a very interesting clash but the question is how do we approach this game? We rested Ramsey and Wilshere against Napoli and Walcott has not actually start a match since like forever. Those 3 are the freshest players we have atm. Followed by Monreal who is more than capable of starting at LB if Gibbs is fatigued which looks like the case. Cazorla might see the bench who hasn't been in dazzling form. But Wilshere on the left? we know that never works. Left wing is a problematic area and if we start a pivot of Flamini-Arteta than Ramsey can go at CAM with Ozil at LW which isn't the best of options but the most feasible one. But then, i won't be surprised if Walcott is on the bench yet again.

Team News

Arsene yet to reveal the team news but it looks like Sagna is 50-50 and no fresh injury concerns.

For City, Richards is out. Everyone else is fit.

Match Facts (BBC)

Head-to-head

Arsenal have only won one of their last six league and cup games against Manchester City, and have failed to score in six of the previous nine meetings in all competitions.
The last six Premier League matches have produced six red cards - four of which were shown to City players.

Manchester City

Their tally of 29 home goals is the most by a top-flight team in their opening seven matches since Tottenham in 1962-63 (also 29).
City have scored in 57 consecutive Premier League home games, a run stretching back to a 0-0 draw with Birmingham in November 2010.
Manuel Pellegrini's side have lost eight points from winning positions this season - the second highest tally in the top flight behind Sunderland (11).
Sergio Aguero has 18 goals in all competitions this season, including 12 in the Premier League - equalling his league tally last term.

Arsenal

The Gunners have the division's best away record with 16 points - twice City's tally on the road.
Arsenal are one point shy of 1300 in the Premier League under Arsene Wenger.
Mesut Ozil has registered four goals and six assists in his 12 Premier League appearances. However, he has yet to score for Arsenal away from home in league or cup.

Final Words

Score early and we will win

Where's the best place in Las Vegas to watch us??

Was there back in September and struggled to find somewhere on the strip. Don't give up hope though, apparently there's an Irish themed pub that shows the Premiership but I got lost trying to find it.

I'm going to really stick my neck out here and say if we beat Arsenal today then this is the beginning of our championship season. I was gutted going 2 - 0 down in 12 mins at Bayern but watching that game reminded me so much of the game we played against QPR to win the Title. So come on lads more of that fighting spirit and the world is our oyster!

Would have to think that senior players that were rested or didn't start on Tuesday will start today, if fit

Only real issue (apart from choice of GK) is two up front or one. And if only one is the extra midfield player Navas or MIlner?

I think Pellegrini will stick with two up front, might tinker with some roles. Might play Ageuro a bit deeper, Fernandhino more restricted. But I still think he'll go for it.

Could be magnificent, or ugly.
