Yes I did think the ref had a good game and was one of the best we have had over the years in this competition.Anyone who thinks that any ref should get 100% correct decisions needs to wake up.He was far better than most PL refs I`ve seen of late.

Haha, brilliant! Thanks for clearing that one up. I had no idea I was so naive to think that every ref should get 100% of the decisions correct. Of course I don't. What I do expect is every ref to be fair, and not to be consistently conned by diving and cheating. A ref who will not give the opposition free kicks when our player has cleanly won the ball (see Clichy's booking, Ribery's dive, Lewandowski's dive, etc.).
The fact that grown men, who've been watching football for years, can be duped into thinking the ref had a good game because (1) he gave us a penalty and (2) he was 'better' than most PL refs of late....amazes me. Would you have still said that had we failed to win the game?
He may have been better than others we've had lately, but he still had a bad game.

A simple question. Were you actually at the game ?

Of course not. Some people are unable to take time off work during the semester and fly half way across Europe to attend a game. I was, however, watching it in a bar full of plastic Austrian Bayern fans, the only Blue there. That gave me the benefit of being able to see the TV replays instantly after each refereeing decision, allowing me the opportunity to form my opinion. An opinion by which I stand - the referee was still poor.

Or is this one of those questions where I'm automatically a lesser Blue because I don't have a million loyalty points or a season card, or don't go to many games, so rendering my opinion completely irrelevant?

Add me to the list that reckon the ref had a very good game. It was really noticeable last night, generally made the correct calls and no different rules for different teams. Made the odd mistake but I was well impressed.

And I even said that when we were losing so it wasn't just the fact that we finally won a game again.

I agree he was competent. But for me the biggest difference was that he was not bent. Some of the games we've seen recently, the persistant fouling against our players has been ****ing ridiculous and then instant yellows for us with the first or second iffy tackle.

I am not big on the grand conspiracy thing but I am positive we've seen some VERY biased refereeing in the recent past.

Is it me but I thought we played quite well last night. This was Bayern - We bossed most of the 2nd half and we were doing ok until they had the free kick

No, they bossed us with 10 Players and had youth Players in their Team. And their main Players were injured , and some rested in the Reserves, in a Game which for them is a friendly.

I hope we dont see them in quarter final or something, I rather face Barcelona or Chelsea than them.

Bayern had good ball possession and created virtually nothing , considering our first choice midfield players were also not available , the overall performance was ok , going down to 10 men was not going to stop the way Bayern play , pass and move etc , and they are a very good team . At the end of the day their centre back was a dickhead and got sent off , so i dont make any allowances for them , and the history books will say we scored more goals than Bayern Munich , it wont mention how much possession they had or how their pretty little triangle passing formations worked , they f*cking LOST

Exeter Blue I am here said:
I genuinely can't believe some of the stuff on here, or in the Daily's (Winter calling us 'embarrassing' in the Torygraph for starters). I watched a game in which Bayern skinned us alive for 10 minutes, we got the better of them for the next 15, and then they controlled possession for the remainder of the half without ever threatening our goal. And bar that first 10 minutes, at no point did we play badly, and their goals were every bit as soft as ours.
'What were those substitutions?' I'd say given that we turned the game around, they were the right ones.
The team played pretty well, collectively and individually, and indeed the only player who made me even a little bit nervous was Kompany. Possession stats for the 90 minutes were 56:44 and pass completion something like 550:400, so to say we had the p*ss taken out of us is ridiculous.

There seems to be a small element both on the forum and in the media who are angry that we turned things around and won the match. They seem angry that they can't wake up this morning and laugh at City for being out of the CL and bottom of their group. Angry that Bayern didn't wipe the floor with us. Frustrated that our striker did the job he's paid to do and bury easy chances when they came his way. Pissy that we defended with purpose and hunger.

These people are making me smile and laugh a lot this morning. Lets go to Rome, beat them, then go on and win the whole fucking thing this season. It might just be written already. :)

If I know City, and people may remember that I had us down to beat Bayern, we'll go to Rome and smash them 5-0.

Then Moscow will nick it in Germany.
I can't see Bayern losing at home to CSKA in any circumstances (other than they want us knocked out), they rarely lose, they even more rarely lose at home. CSKA have to go for it, they'll be wide open for Bayern to rip them a new one.

If we're going to worry about anything it should only be how we perform in Rome.

i will say it again well done pellers got his tactics spot on let em have the ball three attempts is all i remember them having. if we had gone to match them robben would have the match ball by now.but some on here think we should of matched one of the best teams in the world with the best possession play manager and a faster bigger squad . you play to your strengths we did that and could have won by more. so i look back on this game and say how dull bayern were and city wrangled every emotion out of me
a match well worth going to almost as much as qpr
also a great ref he let the players know who was in charge

we have to forget about the other game and just win in Rome. focus on what is in our hands

Anyone notice that on the bench for Bayern was one Gianluca Gaudinio. Yes, son of short-stay City legend Maurizio, a player who, for me, showed glimpses of skill beyond that of the cretins he was playing with in 1995. MoGo had, to say the least, a colourful history.
Alleged Car Thief etc.............
